LUMI is an online AI room planning tool (Raumplaner) whose core purpose is to let users quickly preview a new interior style or layout direction based on a photo of their own room.
[Main capabilities]
- Real room photo input: it uses the uploaded photo as the starting point rather than an empty model room. The tool can refer to visible clues in the photo, such as windows, floors, walls, and existing furniture, to generate a design.
- Style redesign: when generating, users can choose the room type and room style. Example styles include modern, Scandinavian, and Japanese wabi-sabi (Japandi).
- Description supplement: optionally add a description in the additional settings, for example "warm wood tones," "add storage space on the right wall," or specify desired furniture effects such as a light-colored sofa, a narrow table, or more visible storage.
- Generation and comparison: each generation produces a new image draft, and users can compare the result with the original photo to see how the color scheme, atmosphere, and furniture effects might look.
- History: completed drafts are saved in personal history, where they can be viewed again and downloaded.
- Free trial: the free trial provides 2 credits; each generation consumes one credit.
[How to use] The usage process is roughly four steps:
- Prepare a clear photo: try to shoot straight on or from a corner, use natural light, and avoid heavy filters. Only remove items that you also intended to remove anyway. JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats are supported, up to 10 MiB.
- Upload and select: after logging in, upload the room photo, then select the room type and style, both of which are required for generation. You can add a description through additional settings, and the tool will process these prompts together with the photo into a new image.
- Generate and adjust: view the result and compare it with the original image. To try another direction, regenerate by changing the style or describing it more precisely. Each generation produces one draft, and every new variant consumes an additional credit.
- Save, compare, and share: finished variants remain in personal history and can be downloaded. The tool does not automatically send sharing links; users need to compare the files side by side themselves and discuss the specific differences with the people who use the room.
[Applicable scenarios]
- Before renovating a real room, compare visual directions, such as a lighter palette, less decoration, or different furniture effects.
- Use as a starting point for communication with family members, designers, or contractors, together with the original image, two drafts, and a list of questions to confirm (dimensions, materials, budget).
- Suitable for preliminary style decisions for rooms such as living rooms, bedrooms, and workspaces.
[Limitations]
- This tool is based on the perspective of the uploaded photoThe generated image provides a visual preview; it does not perform 3D wall modeling, nor does it generate a rotatable, to-scale 3D model.
- The image is a design suggestion and does not guarantee that every detail shown can be built exactly.
- It does not measure distances or verify dimensions, costs, or construction feasibility; circulation paths, door swing ranges, and clearances still need to be measured yourself or checked using a suitable floor plan planning tool.
- The current process only accepts room photos; a single product image or exact furniture dimensions cannot be used as standalone input for placement.
- The AI may interpret details differently; when it comes to doors, outlets, or fixed built-in elements, your own photos should be the reference.
- More information about pricing, platform support, account systems, etc. is not currently provided in the materials.
