Particle provides application infrastructure for smart devices, helping innovative companies worldwide power their connected machines, vehicles, and products. Particle has been acquired by Digi.
Purpose Particle is used to embed intelligence into any device, anywhere, with its core being 5G connectivity and AI-accelerated single-board computers. It is aimed at developers and enterprises that need to deploy software to hardware and achieve reliable connectivity and management.
Key capabilities
- Edge infrastructure: Reliably deploy OTA software and model updates to any device, covering everything from KB-level microcontrollers to GB-level edge computers and AI accelerators. It provides bare-metal runtime, drivers and libraries, Particle on Linux (new), device protection (new), and OTA software updates.
- Networking and connectivity: Provides an abstraction communication layer that can reliably work across multiple radios, including LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, satellite, and LoRaWAN. Features include Particle.publish(), multi-radio transmission (new).
- Cloud infrastructure: Through real-time data automation infrastructure, turn machine data into immediate actions and useful insights. Includes Location Fusion.
- Management and oversight: Monitor and manage every device, every piece of software, and every piece of data through a single portal. Involves security and compliance, software releases, configuration (coming soon), insights (coming soon).
- Application development: Provides a developer-friendly application framework across devices and the cloud, supporting thousands of libraries, hundreds of integrations, and documentation. Includes Blueprints (Beta) and command-line interface (CLI).
- Supported devices: Edge-to-cloud infrastructure is tightly integrated with supported devices, including Particle's own modules and gateways, as well as popular edge computing platforms such as Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, and BeagleBone. Product forms include development kits, system-on-modules (SoM), and single-board computers (SBC, new).
How to use Materials provided: Order Tachyon now; start with development boards, including Gen 4 MCU + multi-radio, Gen 5 5G SBC + AI accelerator, Gen 3 MCU + LTE, Gen 4 MCU + Wi-Fi, Gen 3 MCU + LTE gateway. The remaining specific usage steps are not yet provided.
Applicable scenarios Suitable for powering connected machines, vehicles, and products, deploying software to hardware, performing AI-accelerated computing at the edge, and enabling remote device management anddata insights.
