Seedream Pro is an independent online AI image generation and editing studio, located at seedreampro.com. It connects to ByteDance's Seedream image models and Seedance video models via API, and is not an official ByteDance website. The tool integrates five Seedream image models in one version bar: 5.0 Pro, 5.0 Lite, 4.5, 4.0, and 3.0, as well as Seedance for video generation. The studio opens to version 4.5 by default, the free version supports 2K resolution, and 4K is available starting with the Basic plan.
[Main Capabilities]
- Text-to-image: All five versions support generating images from a prompt alone. 4.5, 5.0 Lite, and 5.0 Pro offer eight aspect ratios, 4.0 offers nine presets (all including 21:9), and 3.0 retains six standard sizes. Prompt length is limited to 3,000 or 5,000 characters, depending on the version. Version 4.0 can generate up to six images at once, and more than two requires the Basic plan.
- Image editing and multi-image blending: Upload photos and describe the changes in text, such as changing the background, changing colors, or blending multiple images into one scene. 4.5 and 5.0 Lite support up to 14 reference images, while 4.0 and 5.0 Pro support up to 10. All modes require a text prompt, with no mask or brush needed.
- Layer decomposition (5.0 Pro only): Upload a finished image and describe the elements to split apart (such as the product, title, or background), and 5.0 Pro will split the image into separately editable layers. Output sizes can be 1K, 1.5K, or 2K, and this mode is available starting with the Basic plan.
- Text-dense layout (5.0 Pro): Enclose title and label text in quotation marks, and let 5.0 Pro place it in posters, menus, and charts, with output at 1K or 2K, starting with the Basic plan.
- Seedance video: Download an image from "My Creations" and upload it as the first frame to the Seedance studio to turn a still image into a short video. Seedance has seven versions, handles motion, frames, and generated sound, and starts with the Basic plan.
[How to Use] Users must first enter a prompt of at least 3 characters, and may optionally upload reference images for editing or blending. Then select the model version in the version bar (default 4.5),Set the aspect ratio and resolution; version 4.0 also lets you set the number of images to generate. The required credit cost is shown before generation. Credits are deducted when the task starts and automatically refunded if it fails. Generated images are saved in "My Creations" and can be downloaded or used as references for later edits. Video is a separate studio; Seedance turns static images into short clips and requires a paid plan.
[Use cases]
- Online sellers: Upload product images and scene images to 4.5's Image Edit, describe the product's position, and generate product listings or ad images; use 4.0 to generate four to six multi-angle product images at once. Commercial use requires Business-level permissions.
- Content creators: Use 5.0 Lite to generate a 16:9 video cover and a 9:16 story background from the same prompt at 2K resolution, changing only the aspect ratio; upload three or four reference photos of the same person or outfit, changing only the scene or pose, to keep the series recognizable.
- Teachers and corporate teams: Use 5.0 Pro for text-heavy layouts such as flowcharts, timelines, and annotated diagrams; use 5.0 Pro's layer decomposition feature to split an approved poster and regenerate only the changed parts. Company posters and brochures count as commercial use and require Business-level permissions.
[Version selection advice]
- 4.0: Good for generating multiple options in one run.
- 4.5: Good for everyday images, free 2K, Basic provides 4K.
- 5.0 Lite: Newer engine, with the same free 2K and paid 4K split.
- 5.0 Pro: Good for text-heavy layouts or layer splitting, starting from the Basic plan. Results vary by prompt; you can run the same prompt on two versions to compare.
[Prompt advice] Write the subject first, then the scene, lighting, camera angle, and aspect ratio. Text that should appear in the image should be enclosed in quotation marks and kept short. Prompts must be at least 3 characters; 4.5 and 5.0 Lite are limited to 3,000 characters, and other versions are limited to 5,000 characters. Change only one variable per run.
[Credits and plans] The free plan uses credits obtained by a new account and can run 4.5, 5.0 Lite, 4.0, and 3.0, up to 2K. 4K output (4.5, 5.0 Lite, 4.0), more than two images per run in 4.0, and 5.0 Pro all require the Basic plan. All Seedance video versions require Basic. New accounts receive 10 credits one time, valid for 30 days. Monthly plan credits are valid within the billing cycle; annual plan credits and credit packs are valid for 365 days. Refunds can be requested within 7 days of purchase and with less than 5% of credits used, minus a 5% handling fee. You can cancel anytime in Settings → Billing, and the plan continues until the end of the paid cycle.

Using images for commercial or client work requires Business-level access (a Business subscription or a valid Business Pack / Business Pack Max).
