BrainTube MCP Server (braintube-mcp) is a remote MCP memory server whose core positioning is "save once, query anywhere." It compiles content that users watch, read, and listen to—including YouTube videos, podcasts, articles, and PDFs—into a persistent, searchable knowledge base, and then through a single MCP endpoint lets AI clients search that knowledge base and save content into it.
In terms of purpose, it helps AI (such as Claude, Claude Code, Cursor) directly retrieve and cite materials saved by the user during conversations, instead of starting from scratch in every conversation.
Main capabilities include:
- Semantic search and keyword search across all content saved by the user, returning citations pointing to the sources;
- Saving content from the AI side—AI can save content it finds to BrainTube, and can add notes and tags in the same session;
- Knowledge graph and related-item traversal, enabling discovery of related content across the entire corpus;
- Session context—including professional profile, recent activity, and resurfacing tools;
- Per-user isolation—JWT-scoped access, so users can only see their own corpus.
In terms of usage, the server endpoint is https://mcp.brain-tube.com/mcp(Streamable HTTP), version 3.12.4. Authentication supports OAuth 2.0 (authorization code + PKCE), or using a BrainTube API Key via the X-BrainTube-Token request header. Discovery endpoints include /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource and /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server. Before use, you need to create an account at brain-tube.com and obtain an API Key, or use OAuth in a compatible client. When adding to an MCP client, any client that supports MCP Streamable HTTP uses the same endpoint. In clients that support OAuth, simply add the endpoint URL and log in when prompted. Claude Code provides a one-command configuration method; in Claude.ai, use "Customize → Connectors → + Add → Add custom connector," paste the endpoint, and log in, with no API Key required.
Applicable scenarios include: giving MCP clients such as Claude long-term memory, retrieving and citing videos, podcasts, articles, and PDFs that you have saved yourself, or saving and annotating materials on the fly during AI sessions. Official step-by-step setup guides for each client are also provided, as well as a comparison of BrainTube with other MCP memory servers.
In terms of limitations, the materials do not specify concrete pricing, costs, platform coverage, or performance metrics; this information is not currently provided.
