About this tool

Meridian Realms is a narrative-driven AI roleplay platform, focused on "AI roleplay with long-term memory," allowing users to build worlds, meet characters who remember every conversation, and play through stories that continue developing across scenes and timelines.

Purpose

The platform is aimed at users who want deep, coherent roleplay. Users can create their own worlds, or choose a shared world from the world directory to begin; each world includes settings such as genre, history, factions, and locations. Users can also choose the character they play and the characters they interact with, and each character has their own past, personality, and goals.

Main Capabilities

  • Long-term Memory: Characters retain their own memories—what happened, who was present, and how it felt. Major moments and details may be remembered weeks or even months later, and return accurately when needed. Memories are presented in timeline form, for example from "Day 1: Honest answer? Bad week, my mom is sick." to "Day 23: You never told me how the appointment went. Your mom. Did the new doctor help?"
  • Three-Second Quick Start: Choose a genre, describe the setting, and Quick Start will build the world, the user's identity, and the first character encountered, and place the user directly into the first scene.
  • Six Underlying Systems: No manual setup is required; they run automatically during conversation.
    • Trust Relationships: Each character has a private evaluation of the user—trust, warmth, respect, familiarity, tension. Relationships such as stranger, confidant, or rival evolve over time, and users can also set the starting point.
    • Scene Facts: The scene planner keeps facts accurate—location, time, who is wearing what, what is on the table. Each fact has certainty and visibility, and secrets remain secret until someone actually learns them. For example, hovering over or clicking a highlighted phrase can reveal the fact it created: location (visible to anyone, established in this scene), time (visible to anyone, established in this scene), appearance (visible to anyone, established in this scene), item (private, persists), goal (known to some, persists).
  • Character Group Chat: Add multiple characters from the same world to one thread; characters automatically decide who speaks, the narrator fills in the world between characters, and users can participate, narrate, or direct the scene. Group chat requires Premium or above.
  • Same World, Different Timelines: Run parallel storylines in one world. Each timeline (continuity) keeps its own memories, relationships, and knowledge, so a heist in one timeline does not leak into a slow-burn romance in another timeline. Threads within a timeline share one timeline, the character will carry events that happened in other threads. Timeline requires Premium and above.
  • Scene visualization: Users can easily visualize any scene with characters, outfits, and locations. Supports multiple styles, from cinematic realism to modern anime, and provides a gallery with folders and favorites. Example scenes include: navigating through crowds in an indoor tech market, a shadow assassin sneaking on rooftops, sitting on the couch in her spaceship apartment, at an abandoned research outpost at the edge of known space, Laura playing electric guitar on a rock concert stage (dramatic shot taken from the audience below), hosting a casual game night with friends, Veysha of the Hollow Crown in armor in the throne room, relaxing reading under a tree at the edge of town, fighting a dragon using an ornate curved double blade, casually holding a beer and rolling her eyes at a rooftop bar at night, post-apocalyptic abandoned city streets, a candid shot of John in an outdoor seating area in the city at night, lounging on the prairie with a smirk, a Thieves Guild member sneaking on the docks at night, studying cross-legged on her bedroom floor, taking a coffee break, holding the reins at the front of a transport wagon pulled by two six-legged drakes, an angel warrior in advanced mechanical armor in a ruined city, a mysterious mage with a crystal staff in a misty magical forest, a close-up of a man on a city rooftop in the evening.
  • Generate a world from one sentence: Describe a place, choose a type and a few tags, and Meridian Realms will draft the world: history, factions, locations, and inhabitants. Users can edit anything, or build it entirely manually.

How to use

  • Step 1: Choose a world: Start from a shared world in the catalog, or build your own world. Type, history, factions, and locations set the stage.
  • Step 2: Meet characters: Choose who the user plays as and who to play with. Each character has a past, personality, and their own goals. Example characters include Verath the Thorn (High Priestess of the Pact's Convocation), Dimitri Kowalski (harbor master and water activities coordinator), Alyssa Dark (independent researcher), and others.
  • Step 3: Play: Chat, narrate, or direct. The story automatically handles the background, and users can also take control themselves. Example scene: Blackbay 5:52 PM, fog rolls in at six, and the market is already empty. Alyssa sits on the steps of the old pharmacy sorting medicine bottles, unhurried. Users can converse, narrate, or direct.

Use cases

Suitable for users who enjoy deep narrative, long-term role-playing, multi-character interaction, and story visualization. Can be used to build sharedworlds, long-term interaction with characters that have memory, running parallel storylines, having multiple characters interact in group chats, and visualizing scenes with image generation.

Limitations and Notes

  • The group chat feature requires a Premium subscription or higher.
  • The timeline feature requires a Premium subscription or higher.
  • New accounts receive some free Filament to try out chatting, creation, and image generation. After that, you can subscribe to get monthly credits and additional features, or buy Filament directly.
  • The Vega and Centauri chat models are free and unlimited for all active subscribers.
  • Filament does not expire and remains even if the subscription ends; a sufficiently large balance can itself also maintain access to some features.
  • A user's worlds, characters, chats, images, and anything copied from the public directory are private, visible only to the user themselves, and the platform never uses them to train data.
  • The interface supports English, German, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese; characters will happily role-play in the language the user writes in.
  • The community can be joined via Discord; support is available via Discord or support@meridianrealmsai.com.
  • The world directory contains pre-made worlds that can be copied for free, such as Space Fantasy Orion Spire, Real Life Clearwater Metro Area - 1998, Cyberpunk West-Con, High Fantasy Solmaris Empire, etc.
  • Specific prices, subscription fees, Filament purchase prices, etc. are not yet provided.
