About this tool

ShimmerPic is a browser-based image generation and editing tool that runs the GPT Image 2.5 model released by OpenAI on September 8, 2026. The model is offered in the API in two versions: Flare, the default fast model prioritizing speed, and Sunburst, the model prioritizing precision, suited for refined product and marketing visuals. ShimmerPic presents both in the browser at the same time, usable without an API key.

In terms of main capabilities, users can write their own prompts or choose ready-made options from a library of 531 community prompts. The prompt library is categorized by output type, including product images, posters, characters, brand visual boards, and more, and each card shows the actual output result and credits the author. After choosing a prompt, elements such as the product, title, and scene can be changed, and reference photos can be uploaded to assist generation.

Generation settings support six aspect ratios: 1:1, 4:5, 3:2, 2:3, 16:9, and 9:16; three resolution levels, 1K, 2K, and 4K; and Standard or High quality. Up to three reference photos can be added per image, each no larger than 10 MB with the longest side no larger than 4,096 pixels. Prompts are submitted in full and are not silently truncated. All results are saved privately at full resolution to a personal creation library, where they can be downloaded or reopened as reference images for multiple rounds of editing; the model follows editing instructions and preserves parts not mentioned.

In terms of usage, users sign in with a Google account and use credits to generate images. New accounts receive 15 free credits, enough to generate five 1K images with a short prompt on either model. Free access includes basic resolution, Standard quality, and one reference image. After purchasing any plan, higher resolutions, High quality within the supported range, and up to three reference images are unlocked. Credits can be purchased as a one-time purchase (starting at $9) or as a monthly or annual subscription; there is no unlimited plan, and there is no price difference between the two models. Each reference photo costs an additional 3 credits. Before generation, the price updates in real time as settings change. Generations that fail for technical reasons are refunded in credits, while generations rejected due to content moderation are not refunded.

Use cases include four main purposes: product photography, where a product photo is uploaded and the surface, lighting, and camera settings are described, the product remains recognizable, and the background is rebuilt; UGC-style visuals, where the product is placed in everyday scenes such as in hand, on a desk, or in a car, presented with a phone-shot look, making it easy to quickly produce multiple variants for ad testing; posters and flyers, where the title and fine print text and their placement are described directly, and the model renders the text within the layout, suitablefor event one-pagers, promotional flyers, and typographic print; and mockup displays, where a brand logo or label is used as a reference image and placed at a specified angle and lighting on a T-shirt, packaging box, tote bag, or wall, without needing a template library.

In terms of limitations, ShimmerPic is an independent tool and is not affiliated with OpenAI. Community example images are for inspiration only and do not guarantee the same results; the original generation settings may differ. Results are private by default and do not enter a public gallery; the community gallery only displays prompts and images that authors have already published on other platforms; if an image or prompt author wishes to delete or change the attribution, they can provide feedback through the report link on the page. The prompt library is compiled from the open awesome-gpt-image-2 collection, and each card credits the author and links to the original publication.
