About this tool

immigration-mcp is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server designed to provide guidance for U.S. immigration. By connecting AI agents (such as Claude Desktop) with official government data sources, it enables users to ask immigration-related questions in natural language and receive real-time, structured answers.

Purpose

  • Provide AI agents with real-time U.S. immigration data, simplifying the process of querying complex immigration information.
  • Help users understand the Visa Bulletin, priority dates, USCIS news, and immigration terminology.

Main Capabilities

  • Real-time Visa Bulletin: Retrieve the latest Visa Bulletin data each month.
  • Priority Date Checker: Check whether a priority date allows filing applications such as I-485.
  • USCIS News: Retrieve daily USCIS news updates.
  • Immigration Terminology Explanations: Explain immigration-related terms (such as the difference between Final Action Date and Date for Filing).

How to Use

  • No API key required; powered by public government data sources (USCIS, Department of State).
  • Configure it in the Claude Desktop configuration file (claude_desktop_config.json) to use it.
  • Supports example prompts, such as: "What are the current EB2 priority dates for India?", "My priority date is March 2015, I'm from India EB2 — can I file I-485 this month?", etc.

Applicable Scenarios

  • Immigration applicants checking priority dates and the Visa Bulletin.
  • Learning about the latest USCIS policy changes.
  • Obtaining information about the materials required for immigration forms (such as I-485).

Limitations

  • The data comes from official government websites, but may not reflect the latest updates.
  • For informational reference only; it does not constitute legal advice. Specific cases should be discussed with a qualified immigration lawyer.
  • The project is open source (MIT License), built on the Go MCP SDK. The specific list of tools currently provided and detailed installation steps are not yet fully provided in the materials.
