About this tool

Posthive is a multi-platform social media scheduling and content management tool, featuring built-in AI agent support and integration with AI clients via the MCP protocol. The project is maintained by AstaBlackClove on GitHub and is licensed under AGPL-3.0.

In terms of use, Posthive is used to uniformly schedule and manage social media posts, allowing users to distribute content across multiple platforms in one place. It is officially said to support writing once and publishing simultaneously to more than 14 platforms, covering Bluesky, Threads, Instagram, LinkedIn, Mastodon, YouTube, X, Discord, and others.

Main capabilities include: multi-platform publishing, AI agent support, calendar view, CSV bulk scheduling, post templates, scheduled first comment publishing, per-platform overrides, Instagram Reels and Stories (including carousel and other media types), YouTube Shorts and videos (supporting dedicated title/description fields and custom thumbnail uploads), dry run mode (dry run, allowing the full pipeline to be tested without making real API calls), draft posts, and a public REST API (full CRUD, Bearer authentication, part of the Pro/Team versions). Among these, the calendar view is based on FullCalendar and provides month, week, and day views with drag-and-drop rescheduling; CSV bulk scheduling allows uploading a spreadsheet to schedule hundreds of posts at once; post templates can be saved and reused for drafts; scheduled first comment publishing automatically replies immediately after a post is published; per-platform overrides allow customizing the text and first comment for each account.

In terms of usage, Posthive supports self-hosting. Quick start (self-hosting): open http://localhost:3000 and register; the official documentation states that billing is disabled by default and all features are unlocked. The complete installation guide is available at posthive.co/docs. The environment variables and platform OAuth configuration in the developer settings are also available on that documentation page.

AI agent integration (MCP): Any MCP-compatible AI agent can be connected to Posthive with just one URL, with no need to generate or paste an API key. The first tool call will open a browser for login. Complete setup for each client is available at posthive.co/agent. The 10 available tools are: list_accounts, create_post, get_post, list_scheduled_posts, approve_draft, update_post, duplicate_post, delete_post, list_templates, create_from_template.

Use cases: operators who need to publish content in bulk or on a schedule across multiple social platforms, users who want to use AI agents to assist in creating and managing social posts, and teams that want to self-host and avoid vendor lock-in.

Limitations and license: The project uses AGPL-3.0, and if this project is modified and run as a network service, the source code must be provided to users of that service. The full CRUD functionality of the public REST API requires the Pro/Team versions (specific information such as pricing is not yet provided). For detailed steps on platform login and OAuth configuration, the official documentation points to posthive.co/docs and posthive.co/agent, and the specific content is not yet provided.
