Multilingual top (product name LangsAny) is a free AI translation tool focused on privacy protection and offline availability. It does not send text to cloud servers, but instead runs a compact neural network model directly in the browser to complete translation, achieving zero data upload, no word count quota, and no need to register an account. The first time a language pair is translated, the browser downloads a compact model of about 50–120 MB and caches it; thereafter, translation can continue even when the network is disconnected. The website itself is cached through a Service Worker and can be used in no-network environments such as on airplanes and subways.
For text translation, users can select a language pair, or let the built-in detector automatically identify the input language; the engine processes sentence by sentence locally and does not initiate server requests. It supports dozens of language pairs, covering 26 major languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Dutch, etc.; non-English language pairs are automatically routed through English, using two local models to complete the translation.
For file translation, switch to the Files tab and drag in files; files are identified by content and translated on the device, then returned in a usable form. Supported formats include: documents and e-books PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, EPUB (Office files and e-books retain their original format and layout, while PDF returns a side-by-side translated version); subtitles and text files SRT, VTT, TXT, Markdown, CSV, JSON (timestamps, markup, and structure remain unchanged, with only the text replaced); images and scans PNG, JPG, WebP, screenshots, scanned PDFs (using on-device OCR to recognize text and render the translation back into the image, and screenshots can be pasted directly); audio and video MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, WebM, MOV (speech is transcribed by Whisper in the browser, generating bilingual SRT or VTT subtitles).
In terms of technical implementation, LangsAny requires no desktop software or browser extension installation, is accessed through a standard URL, and performs translation computation on the local processor; the web page serves as the interface, and WebAssembly runs the neural engine. Translation uses the open-source Helsinki-NLP Opus-MT neural machine translation model and is executed in the browser through Transformers.js; in supported Chromium browsers, the Chrome on-device translation API can also be used. Users can verify in the Network tab of the browser developer tools (F12) that there are no outbound requests carrying text.
Usage limits and notes: all processing is completed within the browser, so the file size limit depends on device memory rather than upload quota—PDF up to 30 MB, Office files and e-books up to 40 MB, images up to 12 MB, and audio or video up to 200 MB. In terms of quality, the official statement says that the translation quality for everyday sentences and documents is very close to cloud services, but large cloud models still have an advantage on complex literary texts; only a local free AI translator can guarantee absolute privacy and no-network translation. On mobile, it can run smoothly in modern mobile browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox), and after the model is cached, mobile translation can be performed offline without consuming cellular data.
