xcode-studio-mcp is a unified MCP server for AI-assisted iOS development, capable of building, deploying, taking screenshots, and interacting with iOS apps and the iOS Simulator from Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or any MCP client.
Primary Purpose It is designed to solve the problem that previously required 2-3 separate tools to complete the full iOS development loop, merging building and interaction into the same server. The project is written in Swift as a single binary and does not require a Node or Python runtime (only the UI interaction tools require the idb CLI).
Main Capabilities The tools listed in public information include: simulator_screenshot, simulator_describe, and tap, type, describe for UI interaction. It supports building, deploying, taking screenshots, and interacting with the simulator from an AI client.
Usage Requires macOS with Xcode installed. For the UI interaction tools (tap, type, describe), dependencies must be installed: brew tap facebook/fb && brew install idb-companion and pip3 install fb-idb. To use it, add the configuration in Claude Code's MCP settings to connect.
Use Cases and Version Planning The current version v0.1 provides core building and simulator tools. The planned v1.0 will include semantic UI navigation (for example, "tap the Sign In button"), visual diff comparison, Xcode project file manipulation, compound operations, and SwiftUI preview capture. The codebase is about 750 lines of Swift, organized into Tools, Services, and Models, and PRs are welcome.
Limitations Must run on macOS with Xcode installed; UI interaction features depend on the idb CLI. Beyond the above, other details are not yet provided.
