Purpose
Axiom Calculator MCP provides personal finance calculation capabilities for Claude and AI agents, helping users complete common financial calculations through natural language questions, such as mortgage monthly payments and total interest, comparisons of loans with different terms, the amount needed for retirement, and the time required to pay off credit card debt.
Main Capabilities
The tool provides a total of 8 calculation tools, covering the following scenarios:
- Mortgage repayment calculation: calculate monthly payments and total interest based on home price, down payment percentage, interest rate, and loan term.
- Compound interest calculation: calculate compound growth.
- FIRE retirement target: calculate the required retirement amount and the time to reach it based on annual expenses and savings.
- Loan comparison: compare the overall pros and cons of different loan options.
- Debt payoff: calculate the time required to pay off debts such as credit cards under a fixed monthly payment, and estimate the savings from extra payments.
- Inflation-adjusted return: calculate the real return after accounting for inflation.
The project itself emphasizes zero API keys, zero setup, and no rate limits, and can be used directly with any MCP client.
How to Use
In Claude Desktop or Claude Code, simply add the project to the MCP configuration. It can also be connected and used with any MCP client that supports stdio. After connecting, users can ask Claude questions in natural language, for example:
- "I'm looking at a $450,000 house, with a 20% down payment, a 6.8% interest rate, and a 30-year loan. What are the monthly payment and total interest?"
- "Compare a $380,000 loan: 15 years at 6.2% versus 30 years at 6.8%, which is better overall?"
- "I spend $48,000 per year. How much do I need to save to retire? If I save $24,000 per year, how long will it take?"
- "I have $8,500 in credit card debt, an annual interest rate of 22%, and I pay $250 per month. How long will it take to pay off? How much can I save by paying an extra $100 per month?"
Applicable Scenarios
Suitable for personal financial planning, mortgage and loan decisions, retirement savings planning, debt management, and scenarios where AI agents need financial calculation capabilities.
Limitations
The materials do not provide detailed information about specific calculation assumptions, precision, supported currency types, input boundaries, platform compatibility versions, and so on. The project uses the MIT License and is free to use, modify, and distribute.
