Block Poster Pro

Block Poster Pro is an online tool that converts any image into a printable tiled poster. Users upload an image, choose the paper and poster size, and then download a paginated PDF that can be printed page by page with an ordinary printer and assembled into a large-format poster. In the current MVP version, images are processed locally in the browser, supporting JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF, up to 3MB. The tool also extends to PDF, TXT, Markdown, and DOCX document input, providing print controls such as page count preview, margins, overlap, crop marks, and row/column labels, making it suitable for scenarios such as classroom displays, event signage, and photo walls.

About this tool

Block Poster Pro is a tiled poster creation tool for everyday printers, whose core purpose is to convert a single image into a large wall poster assembled from multiple sheets of ordinary paper. Users do not need a wide-format printer; they only need to split the image into a printable page grid, print page by page at home or in the office, and then trim and assemble it.

Main capabilities

  • Image to tiled poster: upload a JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF image, calculate the page grid according to the paper aspect ratio, and export a tiled PDF.
  • Paper and size selection: supports seven paper formats—A4, Letter, A3, Legal, Tabloid, and A2—allows setting the number of poster pages horizontally, and lets you switch between portrait and landscape mode.
  • Print detail control: you can set print margins, add overlap areas, choose contain (fully visible) or cover (fill and possibly crop) mode, and enable crop marks.
  • Page labels and preview: each page tile has row and column labels to aid assembly; the page count and layout can be previewed before export.
  • Multi-format input extension: in addition to images, the same paper grid and layout controls also support PDF, TXT, Markdown, and DOCX document input.
  • Local browser processing: the current image workflow is completed in the browser, with no need to upload to a server.

How to use

  1. Choose a high-resolution source image to ensure it remains clear when expanded into multiple pages.
  2. Choose the paper type (A4, Letter, A3, Legal, Tabloid, or A2), and decide how many pages wide the poster should be.
  3. Adjust print details: set the margins required by your printer, add overlap as needed for alignment, choose contain or cover, and enable crop marks.
  4. Download the tiled PDF. When printing, select actual size (100%), turn off scaling options in the print dialog, and then assemble the pages according to the row and column labels.

Use cases Classroom wall displays, science fair boards, event signage, makerspace reference images, dorm decorations, party setups, retail window graphics, office mood boards, photo walls, temporary wayfinding signs, and more. It is also suitable for printing a single test page before professional printing to test the effect of a large-format design.

Limitations and notes

  • In the current MVP version, image processing is performed locally, with a maximum file size of 3MB.
  • Processing is completed only within the browser; specific browser compatibility and performance details are not yet provided.
  • When printing, be sure to use actual size and disable scaling, otherwise the assembled poster size will be smaller than expected.
  • It is recommended to print one test page first to check automatic scaling, duplex settings, and paper tray matching in the printer preview.- For posters viewed from a distance, strong contrast, clear shapes, and large text work better.
  • Some features (such as the specific processing details of document input) are not further explained in the materials.
