About this tool

kdpbook.io is an AI book production tool built specifically for Amazon KDP, developed and operated by THE VIBECODING AGENCY (SARL) based in Paris, France, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon. It takes "describing a book" or "importing an existing manuscript" as its starting point, automatically completing writing, illustration, and layout, and exporting the files required by KDP. It is officially positioned as an AI book studio and book generator for Amazon KDP.

Purpose

The core purpose of kdpbook.io is to turn an idea or a manuscript into a finished book that can be listed and published on Amazon KDP. Users only need to describe the book they want in one sentence, or directly import their existing Word, PDF, Markdown, or plain text manuscript, and the system will generate interior PDFs that comply with KDP print and Kindle specifications, full-wrap cover PDFs, Kindle ebooks (EPUB), and Amazon listing sheets. Its process is officially described as "input an idea or manuscript, output a KDP-ready book."

Main Capabilities

  • Book Types: Supports 36 KDP book types, divided into 8 families, including picture books, illustrated stories, novels and chapter books, nonfiction and guides, coloring books, activity and puzzle books, journals and notebooks, and comics and graphic novels. Different types come with adapted layouts, such as image placement, amount of text per page, appropriate trim sizes, and paper types.
  • Illustration Styles: Provides 61 illustration styles, such as watercolor storybook, medieval storybook, crayon and oil pastel, 1970s storybook, paper-cut collage, classic ink and watercolor, Riso print, 3D animated film, thick-line easy coloring, fantasy digital painting, etc., and also supports describing custom styles or uploading reference images. Each page's illustration is drawn with reference to a character sheet to maintain character consistency from the cover to the last page.
  • KDP Format Handling: Automatically applies KDP's trim sizes, margins, bleed, and spine rules. It is officially stated to maintain a continuously updated rule base of KDP print and Kindle requirements, with user options determining the specific values, and the layout engine applying them to every page and cover. The description mentions support for 5 ink and paper types, 16 trim sizes plus custom sizes.
  • Export Files: Each book exports an interior PDF, a full-wrap cover PDF (including back cover, spine, and front cover, with spine width calculated based on the final page count), a Kindle ebook (EPUB, which can be reflowable or fixed layout) and its Kindle cover, as well as the listing file (title, description, 7 keywords, categories, AI disclosure answers). Coloring, puzzle, activity, journal, and notebook books are print-only, with no Kindle file. Exporting does not consume credits.
  • KDP draft filling extension: kdpbook Publisher is a free Chrome and Edge extension. After installation, "Fill my KDP draft" opens KDP in a new tab and fills in the book details, categories, files, rights, and pricing. The final publishing is clicked by the user themselves. This feature requires a paid plan and the use of a Chromium browser, and the platform states that it will not publish any content without user action.
  • 3D preview: Every book generates a 3D preview based on the real cover, with spine thickness corresponding to the page count and paper, and wrap dimensions accurate to the millimeter. It can be rotated, opened, and read page by page.

How to use

The official four-step process is as follows:

  1. Describe or import: Enter an idea in plain language, or import a Word (.docx/.doc), PDF, Markdown (.md), or plain text (.txt) manuscript, or paste text directly. EPUB cannot be imported and must first be saved as .docx. When importing a manuscript, kdpbook.io claims to preserve the original wording, only splitting and laying it out by chapter or page, without rewriting, deleting, or adding anything.
  2. Choose book type and art style: Select from types such as picture book, novel, coloring book, journal, and more, and choose from 61 illustration styles or customize your own.
  3. Build page by page: Text, illustrations, and covers appear gradually during generation, with a log recorded for each step, and credit consumption can also be checked.
  4. Edit, preview, export: Modify fonts, text, and images in the live preview, then download the files required for KDP.

Use cases

kdpbook.io is suitable for authors, independent publishers, and small studios who want to self-publish books through Amazon KDP. Typical scenarios include: quickly creating children's picture books, illustrated stories, chapter books, nonfiction guides, coloring books, activity puzzle books, journals and notebooks, and comics; quickly laying out existing manuscripts into KDP-compliant files; and batch-generating series books (paid plans support generating multiple books at the same time, along with series and character libraries). The official examples include multiple books made with kdpbook.io and available to read for free, such as comics, adult coloring books, children's coloring books, middle-grade novels, ChiDraws storybooks and picture books.

Limitations and Notes

  • Relationship with Amazon: kdpbook.io is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon. Amazon, Kindle, and KDP are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. kdpbook.io is not related to kdpbook.link or kdpbook.com.
  • AI content disclosure: KDP content guidelines require declaring AI-generated text, images, and translations when publishing a new book or editing and republishing. The text and images generated or drawn by kdpbook.io are AI-generated; manuscripts written by users themselves are not. KDP also limits the number of new books that can be created per account per week (the help page currently states 2 per format; the KDP page prevails), and every book is reviewed by KDP itself, and no tool can guarantee approval.
  • Payment and commercial use: The free plan gives new accounts a one-time 2,000 credits (no credit card required), enough for a default 32-page picture book (about 1,614 credits), but free exports carry a "kdpbook.io preview" watermark, cannot be sold, and free books are shared in the community. Paid plans start at $25 per month and provide watermark-free exports and a commercial license. The official statement says that each book is given a credit estimate before starting, billing is based on actual generation, and remaining credits are automatically released. The pricing page is marked as updated on October 8, 2026.
  • Languages: Supports writing in the 34 languages published by KDP, including English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch. On KDP, Polish, Ukrainian, and Yiddish are print-only; Arabic, Hindi, Chinese (Traditional), Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, and Malayalam are ebook-only.
  • Conditions for extended use: The kdpbook Publisher extension is available only on paid plans and when using Chrome, Edge, or another Chromium browser.
  • Feature boundaries: Unlike Book Bolt and KDP Builder, kdpbook.io does not provide Amazon market research, and its 7 listing keywords do not use search volume data. KDP Builder is regarded by the official source as the closest tool (supports 18+ book types and exports interior and cover PDF, EPUB, DOCX), while kdpbook.io Supports 36 book types and additionally provides fixed-layout Kindle ebooks for picture books and 3D book previews.
