RestorePhoto is an AI facial photo restoration tool for old portraits and family photos, used through a browser. Its core purpose is to improve the clarity of faces in old photos, helping to restore blurry, out-of-focus, or faded facial details while preserving the original photo for comparison.
Main capabilities:
- AI facial restoration: improves facial clarity for photos centered on identifiable people.
- Before-and-after comparison: users can drag the comparison line (or use the arrow keys when focused) to view the effect before and after restoration.
- Free preview: after signing in with Google, you can try one restoration for free, with no payment required. The free restoration can be used again 30 days after a successful result becomes available.
- Supported formats: JPG, PNG, or WebP, up to 20 MB.
- Choose what to save: compare the original and the result, and download the version you like for sharing.
How to use:
- Upload: choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP photo. Sign in with Google to try it for free.
- Restore: confirm the photo, 1 photo = 1 restoration.
- Keep and share: compare the original and the result, then download the photo you want to keep.
Use cases:
- Family memories: revisit the people in wedding portraits, childhood snapshots, and family albums.
- Share photos: compare results, save the version you like, and share it with people who remember this face.
- Specific use cases include wedding portraits, childhood snapshots, scanned album photos, and more.
Limitations and notes:
- AI may reconstruct details that are not visible in the source image, and may not perfectly reproduce the original photo; results may vary from person to person.
- This tool focuses on facial restoration and clarity, and currently does not provide scratch repair, tear reconstruction, or photo colorization.
- Photo access expires 24 hours after upload, and deletion may take longer; see the privacy notice for details.
- Failed restorations are not charged and do not consume free restoration uses; if the photo is still processing, check the status before retrying.
