About this tool

Purpose

Beamtrace for Cursor is a Cursor plugin used to connect to Beamtrace's remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) to obtain read-only AI visibility insights. This repository also contains server.json for the MCP Registry (remote only) as well as a stdio introspection shim for directory Docker builds.

Main Capabilities

  • Provides the service via remote MCP, with the connection address being https://beamtrace.com/api/mcp,采用 OAuth authentication, the organization's website is resolved automatically.
  • Provides a Rule explaining how to interpret metrics and write human-readable reports.
  • Includes a stdio shim that lists the same five tools so that the Docker image can start and respond to introspection requests (initialize / tools/list). This shim does not call the Beamtrace API.
  • The repository runs pre-commit checks via Lefthook (after cloning, run pnpm exec lefthook install).
  • Pushing a v* tag (for example v1.0.1) triggers the .github/workflows/publish-mcp.yml workflow, which after logging in with HTTP domain authentication updates .cursor-plugin/plugin.json and server.json to the tag version (with the v prefix removed), publishes to the MCP Registry, and commits to the default branch when files change.

Usage

Local installation (development): Reload Cursor → Customize → Confirm that Beamtrace is loaded → Authenticate MCP. After installation, complete the Beamtrace login when Cursor prompts you. You need a Beamtrace account and a website on beamtrace.com/setup. Publisher: Elfsight.

Applicable Scenarios

Suitable for scenarios where you want to use the Beamtrace service in Cursor to track AI search visibility and receive website optimization suggestions.

Limitations

This MCP is a remote service and provides only read-only AI visibility insights. Before use, a Beamtrace account is required and website setup must be completed. Other specific limitations are not yet provided.
