About this tool

Purpose: Norman MCP Server connects Norman Finance's bookkeeping, accounting, and tax capabilities to any MCP-compatible AI assistant, serving European (currently primarily German) business owners by handling invoicing, bookkeeping, tax filing, and company management in natural language.

Main capabilities: For invoicing, you can create and edit invoices, quotes, and recurring schedules, with support for document templates, line discounts, units, service dates, payment links, and ZUGFeRD e-invoices, and you can issue Stornorechnung, Rechnungskorrektur, and Lieferschein; for customer emails and reminders, you can send invoices, view delivery status, enable automatic dunning, and set rules; for bookkeeping, you can categorize transactions, match receipts, and reconcile entries; automation rules can automatically categorize transactions based on matching conditions; workflows can perform month-end closing, bank reconciliation, VAT filing preparation, and more; it also supports customer management, product and service catalogs, tax filing (Finanzamt preview, VAT filing, deadline tracking), payroll (monthly Lohnabrechnung for GmbH/UG, Max plan), company overview, German GmbH/UG company formation, and document upload.

How to use: First register a Norman account and log in via OAuth (passwords do not pass through the AI). You can connect Norman Finance in Claude Connectors, or install it as a Claude Code plugin (/plugin marketplace add norman-finance/norman-mcp-server), and it can also be installed from the ChatGPT plugin directory; Gemini CLI can authenticate to the remote server, and Gemini Spark custom apps use https://mcp.norman.finance/mcp;Grok add a custom connector via Connectors; n8n can create MCP OAuth2 API credentials and enable dynamic client registration, with the server URL being https://mcp.norman.finance/。OpenClaw supports remote OAuth, skills-only, or local stdio (requires setting NORMAN_EMAIL, NORMAN_PASSWORD). After connecting, you can ask questions in natural language, such as "Prepare and file last month's UStVA" or "Send ACME a 1200 euro consulting invoice."

Use cases: Daily invoicing, bookkeeping, VAT filing, dunning, payroll, and company formation processes for German and European businesses.

Limitations: Market-specific capabilities increase gradually as Norman expands; Germany currently covers SKR03/SKR04, DATEV, ELSTER, ZUGFeRD, and GmbH/UG workflows; payroll features require the Max plan; paid templates require an active subscription; the SDK 2 HTTP transport limits MCP JSON request bodies to 4 MiB, and large files should be sent via file_url or the upload page's file_ref; URL downloads have no domain allowlist, URL length, or explicit file size limit, and connection/read timeouts are 30 seconds; browser uploads default to 50 MiB and can be configured with MCP_UPLOAD_MAX_SIZE; company formation documents are drafts and do not constitute legal advice.
