About this tool

Purpose

AgentRPC is a universal RPC layer designed for AI agents, used to connect any function, any language, any framework, and can cross network boundaries. It is suitable for scenarios where services are deployed in Kubernetes clusters or across multiple cloud environments.

Main Capabilities

  • Wrap functions as universal RPC interfaces and connect them to hosted RPC servers accessible through open standards.
  • Supported standards include: Model Context Protocol (MCP), OpenAI-compatible tool definitions (OpenAI, Anthropic, LiteLLM, OpenRouter, etc.).
  • Provides three stages: registration, management, and access: use the SDK to register functions and APIs in any language; the AgentRPC platform (api.agentrpc.com) registers functions and monitors their health status; receive OpenAPI SDK-compatible tool definitions and hosted MCP servers to connect compatible agents.
  • The AgentRPC TypeScript SDK includes an optional MCP server, which can start an MCP-compliant server for external AI models to interact with registered tools.

How to Use

  • Registration: use the SDK to register functions and APIs, supporting any language.
  • Management: the AgentRPC platform (api.agentrpc.com) is responsible for registering functions and monitoring health status.
  • Access: obtain OpenAPI SDK-compatible tool definitions and hosted MCP servers to connect compatible agents.
  • Quick start: refer to the quick start example on the official documentation site, and view runnable examples in the examples directory.
  • Claude Desktop integration: add configuration in claude_desktop_config.json.
  • Cursor integration: add configuration in ~/.cursor/mcp.json.

Applicable Scenarios

  • Services are distributed in a Kubernetes cluster and need to be uniformly invoked by AI agents.
  • Services are deployed in multiple cloud environments and need to connect functions across network boundaries.
  • You want to expose existing functions or APIs to AI agents compatible with MCP or OpenAI tool definitions.

Limitations

  • Regarding the specific list of supported languages, detailed SDK usage, platform fees and pricing, deployment requirements, etc., the materials donot yet provide this.
  • The project uses the Apache License 2.0 license, and the repository contains all open source components and SDKs of AgentRPC.
