RemoveGenie is a brush-based AI image removal and inpainting tool, officially positioned as a "free AI object remover" for cleaning up photos and erasing unwanted elements. It reconstructs the covered background details through an AI inpainting model.
Main uses and capabilities
- Background people removal: Remove photobombers, tourists, and passersby from the background of a photo, even when people are gathered together; the AI fills in with sky, water, walls, or pavement. Suitable for travel photos, event photography, and candid portraits.
- AI object removal: Erase trash cans, power lines, parked cars, fallen cables, and any other unwanted object; the AI predicts the pixels behind them and stitches together a realistic background. Covers street clutter, construction debris, dropped items, traffic cones, signposts, and more.
- Text removal: Remove date stamps, subtitles, captions, meme text, burned-in watermark phrases, and more from images; the AI restores the pixels underneath, suitable for cleaning up screenshots, scanned keepsakes, and old family photos.
- Watermark removal: Remove watermarks such as copyright stamps, diagonal overlays, author signatures, and burned-in logos; the AI model reconstructs background textures (sky, walls, vegetation). The official guidance reminds users to remove watermarks only from images they have the right to edit.
- Magic eraser: Handle details that do not fall into a single category, such as small signs, foreground distractions, blemishes, and clutter; it can also handle T-shirt, hat, and jersey logos, live TV station logos, billboards, packaging brand marks, and more.
- Sticker and emoji removal: Erase Instagram stickers, Snapchat overlays, emoji reactions, chat bubbles, censorship bars, and more, restoring the original content underneath, suitable for restoring social media screenshots and chat records.
How to use
- Upload a photo: Choose JPG, PNG, or WebP, up to 20 MB. Before processing, the image is resized so its longest side is no more than 1536 px; the official guidance recommends checking the dimensions after downloading before using it for printing.
- Paint over the object: Use the red mask to paint over all the pixels you want to remove; you can use undo, clear, and the brush size slider for precise operation.
- Download the result: Log in and submit, which costs 8 credits, then review and download the completed result.
Pricing and process Each removal costs 8 credits, and the cost is shown before submission. Tasks that fail confirmation are automatically refunded. You need to first select and mark the image, then log in, ensure you have enough credits, and submit.
Data processing notes The source image, mask, and result are stored to process the task and provide the result in the account; the processing service receives the images needed for the request. The official policy does not promise automatic deletion of data after each request or after 24 hours.
Limitations and unsuitable scenarios
- Verylarge erased areas: Painting over too large an area leaves the AI without enough surrounding context to reconstruct it; it is recommended to crop more tightly or use a dedicated scene replacement tool.
- Subject occupies more than 30% of the frame: When a person or object occupies the dominant position in the photo, the model lacks enough background to generate. Best results apply to removing elements that occupy less than one third of the visible area.
- Large amounts of text removal: The text tool is tuned for watermarks, date stamps, subtitles, and small amounts of text; full pages of body text, comic panels, or dense screenshots will leave artifacts.
