SnapToWindow is a cross-platform window management tool for keyboard-efficient users, primarily designed to let users precisely control window position and size without a mouse, improving multitasking efficiency.
Main capabilities include: window snapping (Snap), which can quickly position windows to preset locations such as the left side, right side, top half, bottom half, quarter areas, and third areas of the screen; keyboard shortcuts, with all window operations supporting customizable hotkeys, by default using the Ctrl+Alt combination on Windows and the Control+Option combination on macOS; multi-monitor support, allowing windows to be snapped to the target screen with consistent shortcuts on any monitor; system tray operation, with the software running quietly in the background, showing only a tray icon and using low resources; automatic updates, supporting seamless background updates to new versions.
Usage is based on keyboard shortcuts: users press preset key combinations to adjust the currently active window to the corresponding position without dragging the mouse. Window operations cover layouts such as one-half, two-thirds, one-quarter, and one-third. All shortcuts can be customized according to personal habits.
The applicable scenarios are mainly desktop users who need to frequently adjust window layouts, especially those who prefer keyboard operation, multi-monitor users, and users pursuing efficient workflows.
Limitations and notes: Windows and macOS are currently supported, and Linux support is planned. The tool is built with Tauri, Rust, and TypeScript, offering native performance and a small memory footprint. SnapToWindow is inspired by Rectangle, uses the MIT license, is fully open source, and users can contribute code, fork it, or customize it as needed.
