About this tool

Fluent is a native, context-aware macOS AI assistant that works in every Mac app. Users can choose which AI model to use, use MCP integrations, on-device memory (RAG), and a multi-model AI Council.

[Key Capabilities] At the core of Fluent is the Smart Panel: press ⌥ Space in any macOS app to bring it up, and it automatically captures relevant context (selected text, clipboard, or window content) and can run customizable Actions using the user's chosen AI provider.

Specific use cases include:

  • Any text field: select a draft and click Fix Grammar, and the corrected version directly replaces the original text.
  • Email and chat: enter a brief intent, and Fluent will read the conversation thread and write a reply on the user's behalf.
  • Across apps and tabs: attach the pages being compared and ask which one to choose, and get a side-by-side cost comparison and recommendation.
  • Folder organization: with one sentence, have Fluent organize a folder by type, for example moving files into invoices, screenshots, and installers.
  • Memory feature: users can tell it once about a refund policy, signature, or preference, and every subsequent answer will automatically know it.
  • Computer Use: without integrations, Fluent can operate apps with its own pointer while the user's mouse remains free to use.
  • Daily briefing: users can request a daily briefing, and Fluent will schedule it, wake the Mac, and have it ready when the lid is opened.

[Models and AI Access] Users can sign in with their existing ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Google AI subscription (via Codex, Claude Code, Copilot, or Antigravity), with no API key and no additional billing. They can also add API keys from providers such as OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Grok, Mistral, Perplexity, OpenRouter, NanoGPT, or connect DeepSeek, Groq, Cerebras, Together AI, Fireworks AI, Moonshot AI, MiniMax, Alibaba Cloud, SiliconFlow, Nebius and any OpenAI-compatible provider. Locally, Fluent can run Apple Intelligence, local MLX models, Ollama, and LM Studio, ultimately providing access to over 500 models.

[Integrations and Automation] Fluent includes 16 built-in integrations (Finder, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Web Search, Computer Use, YouTube, Maps, etc.) and can connect to over 20,000 external MCP servers. Users can say "connect my Notion" and Fluent will set it up automatically. In addition, users can create custom tools across all built-in integrations for better control and consistency. Actions can run on a schedule and wake the Mac to execute.

[AI Council and Privacy] The Council feature lets multiple models answer separately, blind-review each other, and ultimately reach a conclusion. On privacy, Fluent does not collect, process, or store telemetry data or user data; it operates no cloud servers other than the license verification server, and the license server only verifies license keys in a fully encrypted manner and cannot identify users by email or other identifiers. History is stored fully encrypted locally; Memory is stored locally unencrypted by design; images generated with Fluent are stored locally unencrypted.

[Performance and Interface] Fluent is a native Swift app, 73 MB in size, not a web wrapper, launches quickly, is power-efficient, and can run multiple tasks simultaneously. The settings interface has been redesigned, similar to System Settings.

[Pricing and Licensing] Fluent is a one-time purchase with no subscription required. Basic, Standard, and Team all include lifetime upgrades. Basic is also available with a 1-year upgrade version for $29, which includes all versions released within 12 months of purchase; after that, Fluent can still be used permanently, but does not include updated versions. At any time in the License Manager, you can obtain lifetime upgrades for $39, or upgrade to Standard (2 Macs, lifetime upgrades) for $68. Licenses are per Mac/seat: Basic covers 1 Mac, Standard covers 2, and Team starts at 3. Prices are in USD, including tax, paid securely via Stripe, with a 14-day no-questions-asked refund guarantee and a 7 -day free trial. Educational institutions, teachers, and students can enjoy an additional 30% discount. The official NanoGPT partnership offers a 10% token discount. With the API key method, users spend on average less than $0.50-$1.00 per month on routine tasks such as translation, grammar fixes, and summarization; prices may vary depending on the provider, model, and usage pattern.

[Platform Limitations] Fluent is a native macOS app and is only available for Mac.
