Temlavo is an invoice extraction API for developers and n8n automation agencies. Its core goal is to extract data from invoices and identify problematic invoices where the "numbers do not add up," flagging anomalous items for manual review.
Purpose and Positioning Temlavo is aimed at developers and agencies that need to import invoices into their own applications, accounting systems, or automated workflows. It does not provide a human review inbox or review service; instead, it outputs structured data and validation results, leaving it to users to decide how to review, store, and subsequently process them.
Main Capabilities
- Invoice data extraction: Returns predictable invoice.v1 format accounting JSON, including line items.
- Validation checks: A total of 13 checks, covering line item arithmetic, tax amount arithmetic, total consistency, line item subtotal consistency, currency consistency, date consistency, document classification, required fields, line item coverage, and extraction issues. Validation results point to the specific values involved.
- Duplicate detection: Flags the same document or suspected duplicate invoices within the scope of an account and customer (entity), with no need to maintain duplicate history yourself. Enabled by default, and can be turned off when intentionally resubmitting.
- Configurable review rules: Rules can be carried with each request, for example, one customer must provide a purchase order number, and another customer must provide usable line items; rules are passed with each request, with no need to maintain prompts or templates.
- Clear result statuses: Results are returned with statuses such as completed, needs_review, or failed, making it easy for workflows to branch by status.
- Multi-customer support: Each invoice is tagged with a customer via accounting_entity_id, duplicate detection is isolated by customer scope, and the usage API reports processed pages by customer, making it easy to rebill customers.
How to Use
- Browser playground: No registration or API key required, up to 2 invoices per day, files and results are deleted after viewing; duplicate detection is not enabled for browser processing.
- SDK call: Use the TypeScript SDK to process an invoice with a one-line command, for example npm exec --yes --package=@temlavo/sdk@1 -- temlavo process ./bad-total-us.pdf > result.json.
- HTTP API: Includes steps such as creating a document (POST), direct upload (PUT), confirming upload (POST), and getting results (GET); during processing, Retry-Af can be usedpolling.
- n8n template: add API key, pass invoices from the workflow, route results by status.
- process() method: create a document, upload the file, confirm and wait for the result, then based on status save the completed data, show the user the review reason, or handle the failure.
Use cases Suitable for teams that need to import invoices into accounting software, databases, ERPs, applications, or other workflows; suitable for organizations that manage invoices by customer and need usage-based billing; suitable for developers building invoice processing flows in automation platforms such as n8n.
Limitations and notes
- Supported inputs are PDF, JPEG, PNG, a single file no larger than 20 MiB and no more than 20 pages, one separate invoice per upload; may include supporting pages such as purchase orders; receipts or uploads containing multiple invoices are not supported.
- Primarily aimed at U.S. English invoices, but the parser can accept other countries and currencies.
- No manual review service is provided, and even a completed result does not guarantee accuracy or that it is payable.
- Data retention: source files and processing intermediates automatically expire within 24 hours; structured results are retained for 7 days and must be retrieved or saved to your own system before expiration; on-demand deletion of document contents is supported.
- Billing: completed and needs-review results both count toward usage; failed processing is not charged; overage on paid plans continues to be charged per page; the trial stops after reaching the limit.
- Some specific features, advanced pricing, or more detailed integration descriptions are not yet provided in the materials.
Pricing Free trial: 100 pages, 30 days, one-time, no credit card required. Starter: $49 per month including 500 pages, $0.10 per page for overage. Pro: $149 per month including 3,000 pages, $0.05 per page for overage. Higher usage requires contacting sales for a quote. Extraction capability is the same across all plans.
