MarkMe is an AI instant marking and feedback tool for GCSE and A-Level students, designed to help students improve their grades through past paper practice and instant scoring.
Purpose: Students can practise a large number of past paper questions and, after submitting their answers, receive instant marking and feedback, allowing them to understand their score, the reasons for lost marks, and the direction for improvement.
Main capabilities:
- Instant marking: Based on exam board mark schemes, marking is completed within seconds and calibrated to the relevant exam board.
- Detailed feedback: Provides personalised tutor-like feedback to help students understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
- Score mapping: Clearly shows where marks were earned and lost, mapped to the assessment objectives of the real exam.
- No typing required: Supports taking photos of handwritten answers, which MarkMe can read and mark.
- Past paper practice: Choose from thousands of questions, with filtering by subject, exam board, level, or topic.
- Model answers: Provides high-scoring example answers to help students understand how to structure and refine their own responses.
How to use: Students can type their answers manually or take a photo of handwritten answers. MarkMe completes the assessment within seconds and provides detailed feedback. Users can choose questions from the existing question bank or use their own questions. The system uses exam-board-specific mark schemes to map answers to assessment objectives.
Accuracy note: MarkMe uses AI models fine-tuned on real GCSE answers and aligned with exam board standards, making it more accurate than general AI chatbots. The models are continuously improved, and users can submit feedback after each marking to help further optimise them.
Pricing model: Each user can have one answer marked for free per week. Unlimited marking and additional features require an account upgrade.
Use cases and limitations: It currently mainly covers essay-based GCSE subjects, primarily in the humanities. It supports the AQA, Edexcel, and OCR exam boards, and new subjects, levels, and exam boards are added regularly. Schools and educational institutions can access custom enterprise plans, including discounted student accounts and flexible pricing for schools, departments, and large institutions such as multi-academy trusts.
