Gorilla MCP Server is Gorilla's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, used to help SaaS founders find early users. Its goal is to search for real demand signals on platforms such as Reddit, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Bluesky, thereby finding the first 100 SaaS users. According to the official description, you can start for free and get 100 credits. Each qualified lead (hot or warm) costs one credit, and low-relevance results are free.
Main capabilities:
- search: searches Reddit, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Bluesky in parallel to find posts where people express demand for the product you describe. Returns Hot / Warm / Cold results sorted by purchase intent. Takes 30-90 seconds. Each qualified lead (Hot or Warm) costs one credit, Cold results are free, and failed searches are refunded. LinkedIn is a paid-plan source; the free tier covers Reddit, X, YouTube, and Bluesky. Parameters include: query (required; describe in your own words what to search for), source (optional; reddit, twitter, youtube, linkedin, bluesky, or all; default all), since (optional; 24h | 7d | 30d | all, or an ISO date; default 7d), limit (optional; maximum number of results 1-200; default 50). Returns search_id, scored results (source, channel, title, URL, score, Hot/Warm/Cold), and the credits deducted.
- get_search: retrieves the current status and results of a search by search_id. Can be used to resume a search for which the client timed out, or to reread a recent search. Free. Parameter: search_id (required).
- billing_status: views the current plan and remaining credit balance. Free. Returns the plan (free or monthly) and credit balance (tier + pack = total).
How to use:
- Can be run directly from GitHub via npx, or cloned locally and run.
- Get an API key: sign up at usegorilla.app; the free tier provides 100 credits and no credit card is required; log in to platform.usegorilla.app, create one under API Keys in the menu, and copy the key (it is shown only once).
- Configure in Claude Code: add it to Claude Code settings.
- Configure in Cursor: add it to .cursor/mcp.json.
- It can also be installed via Smithery at smithery.ai/server/opusforge/gorilla-mcp. Smithery distributes a prebuilt MCPB package, which any MCPB-compatible client can install with one click.
- For environment variables, no configuration is needed other than the API key; the package uses the key to communicate with the public API.
Use cases: early user discovery, demand validation, lead mining, and prospect outreach by SaaS founders. For example workflows, refer to the real run examples provided officially.
Limitations and pricing: the free tier is a one-time trial that provides 100 credits and requires no credit card.
