Pick an Agency — MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol server provided by Pick an Agency (a free marketing agency directory). Pick an Agency lists over 47,000 marketing agencies, with real client reviews, and offers a free AI matching tool. Through this MCP server, any AI agent (including Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gumloop, etc.) can search the directory directly in a conversation and get matched agencies.
Purpose: This server is used to let AI agents find marketing agencies in a conversation. Users can have the agent search the directory, match agencies by criteria, or look up detailed information about a specific agency. Pick an Agency itself helps companies find the right marketing agency, backed by real client reviews and free AI matching (“Get Matched” returns 5 matched agencies in about 60 seconds).
Main capabilities:
- Search a directory of 47,000+ marketing agencies, with results linking back to the agency's profile page on pickanagency.com.
- Supports AI matching to find suitable agencies based on user needs.
- Can be used in any AI agent that supports MCP.
- Hosted, public, read-only, no API key required.
How to use: Connect via Streamable HTTP, with the endpoint URL being https://www.pickanagency.com/api/mcp/mcp。
- In Cursor, configure ~/.cursor/mcp.json.
- In Claude Desktop / Claude.ai, go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste the above endpoint URL.
- It can also be run locally (stdio): this package is a lightweight stdio proxy for the hosted endpoint, or for configuration in any MCP client.
Example prompts:
- “Find the top SEO agencies in the US.”
- “Match me with a social media marketing agency in Paris, budget around $5k/month.”
- “Tell me about the agency at slug agence-pickers-paris-paris.” The agent will call the tools and return real agencies and their pickanagency.com profile links.
Use cases: Suitable for users who need to quickly find or match marketing agencies in a conversation, such as finding marketing agencies in a specific region, service type, or budget range.
Limitations and notes:
- The server is public and read-only, with no API key, OAuth, or headers required.
- If the tools do not appear after adding the connector, the MCP server connects at the start of the session: open a new conversation (Claude.ai) or restart the session (run claude again in Claude Code), then check the connector/tools menu. In Claude Code, /mcp lists connected servers and their status.
- If “Connection failed” or a timeout occurs, confirm that the endpoint URL is exactly https://www.pickanagency.com/api/mcp/mcp(/mcp suffix is important). You can check status by visiting pickanagency.com.
- If the results are empty, loosen the filter criteria: try using a country instead of a small city, or remove min_rating. match_agencies requires at least one service in services.
- If get_agency says “no agency found,” the slug must be exact. You can first use search_agencies to find the correct slug (it is the last path segment of the profile URL).
- If you still encounter problems, you can email hello@pickanagency.com or submit an issue.
