clipcliper-mcp is an MCP server hosted on CLIPCLIPER, whose main purpose is to convert public video links into timestamped transcripts, chapters, and clip suggestions. The platforms it supports include YouTube (videos, Shorts, live replays), Twitch VOD, Kick VOD, and TikTok, and the official description says it also works on platforms that block data center IPs.
Main capabilities Enter a url and you get three types of results: timestamped transcripts, chapters, and clip suggestions. The server is hosted, so there is no need to download or run anything, and no GPU is used. Videos are fetched and transcribed with Whisper large-v3; once transcription is complete, the video file is deleted immediately, and only the transcript is kept for 24 hours.
How to use All three tools accept a single url parameter. Processing is asynchronous: a single call waits at most wait_seconds (default 90 seconds), and if the video is still downloading or transcribing, it returns status: "processing". In that case, call the same tool again with the same url, and the task will continue running on the server without being charged twice. Results are cached by url for 24 hours.
Access methods include:
- Remote (recommended), Streamable HTTP;
- Clients that accept JSON configuration, such as Claude Desktop and Cursor, can use the remote method;
- Clients that cannot call URLs directly can use a local bridge (stdio). This bridge is the code in this repository, a process of about 100 lines that uses MCP over stdio and forwards each call along with your key to the hosted endpoint. Before the npm package is published, you can run it directly from GitHub: npx -y github:Inmoprice/clipcliper-mcp. In addition, the service is also listed on Smithery (one-click setup for clients such as Claude and Cursor) and has been submitted to the Glama registry.
Keys and pricing No key: each IP can process 3 videos per day, with a maximum length of 15 minutes per video, suitable for trying it out. With a key: buy minute packages at clipcliper.com/mcp, one-time payment, and the minutes do not expire. Each video consumes one package minute per minute the video has started; getting chapters and clip suggestions for an already transcribed video is free. After checkout, the license key is sent by email. When using it, send it with Authorization: Bearer <key> (or X-License-Key); the key does not appear in tool parameters or the URL. The hourly packages of the CLIPCLIPER desktop app can also be used here (one package hour is consumed per hour started). If you prefer to use HTTP directly: the same workflow is available via POST https://clipcliper.com/api/link/transcribe、/api/link/chapters and /api/link/suggest, with a JSON request body of {"url": "..."} and the same request headers. It returns 202 while processing and 200 when complete.
Data and limits Video files are deleted immediately after the transcript is generated; transcripts expire after 24 hours. No account and no cookies are required. Usage is counted by key (hours) or by IP hash (free tier). Support email: support@clipcliper.com. The code in this repository (the bridge) is licensed under MIT, and the hosted service is subject to the terms of clipcliper.com.
Use cases Suitable for quickly generating searchable timestamped transcripts for public videos, automatically dividing chapters, and obtaining clip suggestions for editing reference, and can be used with AI clients that support MCP.
Limitations Only public video links are supported, and platforms are limited to the officially listed YouTube, Twitch, Kick, and TikTok. The free tier allows 3 videos per IP per day, each up to 15 minutes; paid usage is billed by minute packages, and specific prices are not yet provided. Processing is asynchronous, with a default wait of 90 seconds; if exceeded, it returns a processing status and requires repeated calls. Results and transcripts are cached for 24 hours.
