Orlyn

Orlyn (by Wisegrid) is a spreadsheet-first work app that lets teams edit rows in the grid they already know, and automatically generates dashboards, summaries, and weekly status reports. It supports 119 Excel-compatible functions, cross-sheet references, Gantt charts, automations, and more, and embeds AI capabilities directly into formulas, enabling tasks such as classification, extraction, and summarization inside cells. Pricing is $19 per editor per month, free for viewers, and includes $5 of monthly AI credit; after it runs out, AI cells stop resolving. Free data migration is available, usually completed within a day.

About this tool

Orlyn (by Wisegrid) positions itself as "the spreadsheet that runs the work." It preserves the rows, columns, and formula interactions teams are already familiar with, while building an application layer on top so that data tracking and reporting become the same thing.

Purpose and Main Capabilities

At its core, Orlyn makes the spreadsheet the single source of truth for work and provides application-level features around it. Users can continue editing row data in the grid, while dashboards, summaries, and weekly status reports are automatically generated from those rows. It offers 119 Excel-compatible functions, supports [Column]@row references, autocomplete, and signature help. Cross-sheet reference syntax such as =[Sheet2]!A1 is automatically bound on save, with up to 500 references per sheet. Each sheet supports 1 million cells and 40,000 rows, and all features remain enabled at high capacity. It also includes Gantt charts, automations, dashboards, attachment storage, and an API.

AI Capabilities

AI is integrated into cells in the form of formulas. For columns that require judgment (for example, reading notes and assigning tags), AI formulas can be used for classification, extraction, and summarization, then filled down like ordinary values. Free-form =AI() can handle other tasks. For billing, each plan includes $5 of monthly AI credit, billed precisely by actual usage, and the credit is a hard cap: once it is used up, AI cells stop resolving to prevent runaway bills, and users can top up at face value at any time.

How to Use

Users can sign up with Google or email in about 20 seconds and enjoy a 7-day free trial with no credit card required. There are two ways to import existing data: the self-serve importer supports connecting an existing account, and after pasting an API token it automatically discovers accessible workspaces, folders, and sheets, so users can choose what to import, usually completing in about 5 minutes; Excel workbooks can also be imported directly through the File menu. If users do not want to do it themselves, they can request free migration by sending an export file or read-only token, and the founder will personally migrate sheets, formulas, and attachments, usually within a day, without modifying the original data.

Collaboration and Security

When two people edit the same row at the same time, the system captures conflicts at the row level and lets users choose to keep their own version, adopt the other person's version, or merge cell by cell, preventing work from being silently lost. Viewers are free and unlimited. Enterprise-grade SSO and MFA are included. Nightly off-site backups are provided and recovery-tested, and all data can be exported at any time.

Suitable Scenarios

It is suitable for teams that already run serious work with spreadsheets, such as project management, operations tracking, and regular reporting, and do not want to be forced to migrate to a tool that feels like someone else's system.

Limitations

It currently supports import from Excel and self-serve migration, with Google Sheets import coming soon. AI cells stop working after the AI credit is used up. Each sheet is limited to 1 million cells and 40,000 rows. Other features or limitations not mentioned in the materials are not yet available.
