About this tool

Momentary is an AI voice journaling app positioned as an AI mentor tool for mental health and self-growth, launched by MinaLabs.

Purpose Momentary aims to solve the problem that "feelings are fleeting, but journaling always gets put off." It saves users from staring at a blank page struggling over the first sentence, and instead lets them record their current emotions, thoughts that have just surfaced, or things that are hard to put into words by simply speaking.

Key Capabilities Voice journaling: Voice-first; just press the record button and freely say what is on your mind, without needing perfectly polished sentences. While recording, the screen enters a dedicated view that keeps only the real-time waveform, elapsed time, and a finish button, helping you focus on the present moment. Journal generation: AI transcribes the user's voice and organizes it into a complete moment, including a title, mood, keywords, and the journal body. Mood and keywords: Automatically captures the mood and key keywords of the day. Warm messages during the wait: While transcribing and generating the journal, the app displays a short warm message based on what the user just said. Review and save: Users can view a completed moment on the edit page, adjust it as needed, and save it. Attached media: Videos or photos can be attached to a moment, preserving the atmosphere of the time, even the sound of rain. AI mentor reflection: Warm, reflective conversations based on the moments the user has accumulated. If there is a record from the same day, it centers on that day's context; if there are recent records, it provides more contextual reflection based on the most recent moments. Users can reply by voice or text. Personalized home greeting: PRO users receive a warm home greeting tailored to their state that day based on recent moments and reflections. The more they record, the more fitting the greeting becomes.

Privacy and Philosophy Momentary is a space for processing private thoughts and emotions. Journals and voice recordings are material for understanding oneself, not objects to be judged or evaluated. Only the user can access their journals and voice files; when a journal is deleted, the associated voice files are also deleted. The app uses open-ended questions to help users look inward, rather than labeling or evaluating emotions.

Founder Background Momentary began in the summer of 2023, during a period when founder Mina was saying goodbye to Minam, the cat who had been with her for twenty years. She stayed at home for a year and a half, and the voice diaries she recorded while crying silently during that time became the app's initial form. After Minam passed away, she continued using it every day to write for two years, then set it aside for a while, and recently reactivated these records into a complete app, hoping more people can feel the sense of fulfillment she experienced when using Momentary.
