Photo2VR is a web-based AI 2D-to-3D photo conversion tool whose main purpose is to turn ordinary photos into side-by-side (SBS) 3D images suitable for viewing on VR headsets. Users do not need to install any software; they simply upload JPEG, PNG, or WebP photos directly in the browser, and the AI estimates depth from a single photo to generate a stereoscopic SBS 3D image. After generation, it can be previewed immediately in the site's built-in WebXR viewer, or downloaded and placed in your own VR player for viewing.
In terms of main capabilities, Photo2VR provides the following tools: 3D SBS conversion, which turns photos into side-by-side 3D images viewable in VR headsets; Video2VR, which converts short video clips into SBS 3D videos, with options to select the conversion engine, clip length, and upscaling options before submission; 3D motion photos, which add 3D depth and parallax motion to still photos and export them as SBS videos; image upscaling, which enhances low-resolution photos to 4K or above for clearer details before 3D conversion; and a VR viewer and gallery, which provides a 3D viewing experience in the browser and uses a gallery to manage local and saved cloud media. The web app also supports the photo-to-3D workflow in the Meta Quest dedicated app, but purchases and credits within the Quest app are independent of the web account and are not automatically shared.
In terms of usage, users first upload a photo, and after the AI completes the conversion, they can preview or download it immediately. Free previews require no registration or app download. For paid usage, standard SBS photo conversion costs 1 credit, while other tools (motion photos, upscaling, Video2VR) have their own fees, and the required credits are shown before starting; video costs depend on the selected clip length and processing options. Web accounts share the same credit balance between Photo2VR and Video2VR. One-time credit packs are 10 conversions for $3 (about $0.30 each), and credits expire after one year. Subscriptions are available monthly and annually: monthly plans issue credits each month, while annual plans issue the full year's credits at once, at a price equivalent to saving two months compared with monthly billing; eligible paid subscriptions include cloud storage allowances (Lite 5 GB, Starter 15 GB, Pro 50 GB). Each successful monthly renewal grants additional credits: Lite +10, Starter +20, Pro +90. This is a renewal bonus, not a first-payment bonus; annual plans use the annual allowance rather than monthly renewal bonuses. During the subscription period, credits roll over and do not expire; after the subscriptionends, the remaining credits from that subscription receive a one-year validity period. One-time credits expire one year after purchase.
The main use cases are bringing personal photo libraries into VR viewing, for example converting travel, family, or event photos into 3D to enjoy on compatible headsets such as Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, and Pico, or turning short clips into 3D videos and making still photos into motion images with parallax. Locally imported media is stored in the browser where it was added, is not uploaded to the cloud, and does not automatically appear in other browsers or devices; clearing browser data may cause it to be lost. Cloud media is accessible across devices when logged in and with cloud access permissions. Cloud saving is off by default and must be actively enabled in the subscription prompt or in the cloud gallery in account settings; once enabled, new eligible converted photos, upscaled images, motion photos, and completed Video2VR outputs are saved automatically. Source photos are only processed temporarily and are automatically deleted; after a subscription expires, existing files are not automatically deleted, but viewing and downloading require cloud access permissions, so it is recommended to download important files in advance. The built-in immersive viewer requires the headset browser to support WebXR Layers, and support for SBS files does not guarantee that the headset browser can run this viewer. The AI estimates depth from a single photo, and fine details or overlapping subjects may require adjustment.
