Purpose: ezpzfile-mcp is a file processing tool server for AI agents, allowing models to complete document reading conversion and image processing tasks without having to find and install libraries themselves. The official claim is that in comparative tests, sessions using this server cost 53% less and took 93% less time than sessions without dedicated tools that could freely use shell and Node (data recorded on 2026-09-12).
Main capabilities: read and convert documents, supporting DOCX, PDF, HWP, HWPX, EML, as well as Japanese JTD and XDW; convert PDF back to Word, Excel, or HWP; edit PDF; scale and clean up images; cut out backgrounds; generate QR codes.
Usage: distributed via npm, the official website entry point is ezpzfile.com/mcp, and Node 22.13 or higher is required. Tool definitions reside permanently in the model context, so related tasks share a small number of tools (six in total), with specific operations distinguished by parameters. For the complete list and parameters, see mcp/README.md.
Runtime and limitations: all processing is done locally, and no files are uploaded. sharp and @napi-rs/canvas are native modules, built for the platform at install time. The first background cutout downloads a 4.4MB model and a 14MB runtime, and caches them to ~/.cache/ezpzfile-mcp. This is the only network activity, and it does not upload content. The repository is a read-only export; the working copy is located in a private monorepo, regenerated with each version release. It is recommended to file an issue rather than a pull request.
