trident-mcp is an MCP server implemented in the Go language, aimed at AI-assisted 3D model generation and post-processing scenarios. It runs as a single stdio binary. It currently uses the Tripo v3 API behind the provider capability interface, and the project is positioned as a multi-provider 3D model generation MCP server (Tripo, Meshy, Rodin).
In terms of purpose, it encapsulates 3D generation and model processing capabilities as MCP tools for MCP-compatible clients to call, thereby completing a full set of operations from input to exportable models in AI workflows.
Main capabilities include: generating 3D models from text, images, or multiple views; image preparation; splats; asynchronous task polling; account balance and usage queries; file upload and download; format conversion (GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL, USDZ); retopology; stylization; texture, refinement, segmentation, and completion workflows; rigging checks; rigging; animation retargeting; and model and configuration checks. The repository's docs/MCP_TOOLS.md provides the complete tool contracts and known Tripo v3 caveats.
In terms of usage, it requires configuring a Tripo key to run; the project provides one-click development guidance and smoke checks. MCP clients have corresponding configuration methods. Conventional local gate commands are available. Live end-to-end testing requires TRIPO_API_KEY and may consume credits when the opt-in generation flag is enabled; see docs/OPERATIONS.md for details.
Applicable scenarios are development and automation workflows that need to integrate 3D model generation, conversion, retopology, stylization, and animation-related processing through MCP clients.
Limitations: it currently actually uses the Tripo v3 API; live end-to-end testing requires an API key and may consume credits; the repository documentation notes that there are known special cases with Tripo v3. The project uses the Apache-2.0 license, see LICENSE for details.
