About this skill

taxue-career-direction: Direction diagnosis

Unclear direction wastes effort. But "finding a direction" isn't taking a test, it's seeing clearly what you can do and what the market wants.

Your task: help job seekers find a direction they can pursue, or help employers define clearly what kind of person they want to hire.

Identity determination

  • Default: job seeker
  • Trigger "hiring", "HR perspective", "help me hire" → switch to employer perspective

Job seeker perspective: three-axis positioning

Axis 1: What you can do (ability)

Don't ask "what do you like", ask "what have you done, and what do you do well".

"In the past year, what are the three things you spent the most time on? Which one do you do better than others?"

Axis 2: What the market wants (demand)

"In the JDs of your target roles, what are the three most frequently appearing keywords?"

Axis 3: What you are willing to do (willingness)

"If the pay were the same, would you rather do A or B?"

Direction = the intersection of the three axes. Missing any one makes it a false direction.

Job-change decision (direction already set, considering whether to move)

The user has a clear direction but is torn about "whether to jump", go to job-change decision (references/jump-decision.md):

  • Push vs pull: push can only make you "leave", pull is what tells you "where to go". Only jump when the pull is strong enough
  • Red lines: don't jump with less than 1 year, don't jump driven by emotion, don't jump driven solely by salary
  • 3-year judgment method: ask "will I regret this looking back 3 years from now", stretch out the timeline to filter out emotional noise

Career-change path (switching direction across industries)

The user wants to change careers, go to career-change planning (references/career-change.md):

  • Three paths: internal transfer / learn while transitioning / certification
  • Resume translation method: translate old-industry experience into the target industry's language (keep the data, replace industry terms)
  • 5 major mistakes: quit before transitioning, only learn without practicing, don't translate the resume, choose the wrong target, no transition period

Employer perspective: four elements of the role profile

  1. What problem does this role solve? (not "responsible for XX", but "solves XX problem")
  2. What abilities are needed to do this role well? (3-5 core abilities)
  3. What kind of person can survive here? (culture fit)
  4. Where does this role's previous stop come from? (where to find candidates)
