Purpose

The core of an interview is answering two questions:Can you do this job? Will you cause trouble?

The core of Offer decision-making is:Based on what you need most right now, choose the option with the greatest long-term value.

Part One: Interview Preparation

Step One: Determine the Interview Type

Interview Type Evaluation Focus Preparation Core
Technical/Professional Interview Problem-solving ability, professional depth 2-3 in-depth cases, STAR structure
Behavioral Interview (HR Interview) Stability, fit, values High-frequency questions such as "Why are you leaving" and "Biggest challenge"
Management Position Interview Management logic, resource allocation "How do you lead a team" and "How do you handle underperforming subordinates"
Final Interview/Executive Interview Way of thinking, long-term potential Industry trend judgment, career planning

Step Two: Company Research (Outside-In Perspective)

Not just understanding what the company does, but understandingthe external pressures this company currently faces。

Research Checklist:

  1. Company situation: Growth/contraction? Expansion/defending the status quo? Major recent changes?
  2. Reason the position exists: Filling a vacancy/expansion/transformation?
  3. What the supervisor cares about: "Strong execution" = strategy is set and needs to be implemented; "Independent judgment" = they want you to set the direction

Golden sentence:"I know the challenge you're facing now is X. I dealt with a similar situation in my previous job, and my judgment is..."

Step Three: Prepare 3-5 Core Cases

STAR structure: Situation (S) → Task (T) → Action (A) → Result (R)

Focus onyour judgment and actions, and don't say "what the team did".

Step Four: Prepare Questions to Ask

Good questions to ask demonstrate in-depth understanding:

  • "What is the biggest challenge for this position right now?"
  • "What common traits do you think people who do well here share?"
  • "How will success in this position be measured after three months/six months?"

Part Two: Handling High-Frequency Difficult Questions

Question Answer Strategy Example
Why are you leaving State the real reason, choose a favorable angle; don't speak ill of the previous company "I hope to do X at a larger business scale" "I want to develop in a team more focused on the X direction"
What is your weakness? A real, improvable weakness + improvement measures Don't say fake weaknesses like "I'm too much of a perfectionist"
Are you interviewing with other companies? You can say yes, but don't reveal names "I'm simultaneously exploring some opportunities in similar directions"
What are your salary expectations? Try to let the other party give a number first "I'd prefer to learn the salary range for this role first, then see whether it's a match"

Part Three: Interview Review Mechanism (Iteration Core)

An interview is not a one-off deal; every interview is nourishment for the next one.

Review Timing

Within 72 hours after the interview, while memories are fresh.

Four Review Questions

Diagnosis for repeatedly failing the same stage

If you fail at the same stage in 3 consecutive interviews, it means your resume has steered things in the wrong direction:

Failed stage Possible cause Adjustment plan
Self-introduction Positioning unclear or too broad Rewrite your personal positioning, re-diagnose with career-resume-diagnosis
Project deep dive Insufficient case preparation or inconsistent data Deepen STAR cases, verify data consistency
Career planning Goals vague or not matching the JD Use career-strategy to re-sort your direction
Salary negotiation Expectations out of sync with the market Research salary anchors, adjust expectations

Part Four: Offer Decision

Order of thinking

  1. First figure out what you need most right now

    • Just graduated → Platform and growth speed
    • Family responsibilities → Stability and salary
    • Want to change careers → Value of experience accumulation
  2. Multi-dimensional scoring (weighted by your priorities)

Dimension Company A Company B Priority to you
Take-home salary High/Medium/Low
Room for development High/Medium/Low
Risk factors High/Medium/Low
Personal fit High/Medium/Low
  1. "Look back in three years" test

If you looked back three years after joining, which choice would make you happier? This question helps you bypass short-term salary temptation and see the long-term impact.

Negotiation timing and approach

Best timing: After receiving the Offer, when the company has confirmed it wants you, you have the most leverage.

What can be negotiated: Base salary (5-20% room), signing bonus, amount of equity, job level

Script:"I'm very interested in this opportunity and was impressed by the team. Among the other offers I've received, one is at X; I hope you can consider making some adjustment to the salary so that I can make my decision more smoothly."

Taboo: Don't say "If you don't raise it, I'll go elsewhere"—it will leave a bad impression.

Delivery standard

Output according to the user scenario:

Interview preparation scenario:

  • Interview type determination
  • Company research checklist
  • Prepare 3 core cases (STAR structure)
  • Prepare for high-frequency questions
  • Suggested questions to ask the interviewer
  • Review template (provide in advance so the user knows what to do after the interview)

Interview review scenario:

  • Answers to the four review questions
  • Improvement suggestions
  • Judgment on whether the resume or strategy needs adjustment

Offer decision scenario:

  • Multi-dimensional comparison table
  • "Look back three years from now" advice
  • Negotiation scripts (if needed)

Boundaries and collaboration

Input:

  • Source: the user's interview notifications, interview experience descriptions, offer information
  • Format: text descriptions, email screenshots, interview invitation information

Output:

  • Destination: the user (preparation checklist/review report/decision recommendations)
  • Format: Markdown report

Out of scope:

  • Does not handle resume revisions (→ career-resume-diagnosis / career-jd-matching)
  • Does not handle career direction planning (→ career-strategy)
  • Does not provide legal/contract review advice

Collaboration triggers:

  • Repeatedly failing at the same stage → recommend returning to career-resume-diagnosis or career-jd-matching
  • Doubts about career direction → recommend career-strategy

Iteration trigger conditions

Trigger condition Diagnosis Action
User feedback that recommendations for handling high-frequency challenges are ineffective Answer strategies are outdated or inconsistent with the target company's culture Update industry/company-specific answer recommendations
New interview formats emerge (e.g., AI interviews) Existing interview type classification does not cover them Add preparation methods for new interview types
Users ask about the same type of negotiation scenario multiple times Negotiation scripts need to be richer Add more negotiation scenarios and scripts
