About this skill

Interview Coach (career-interview)

Even within the same organization, each team may differ in work style and approach to conflict. To prepare for interviews that ask about how you collaborate with a team, you check the five axes of style, communication, values, collaboration, and conflict. For the actual evaluation method, check the hiring process information of the company you are applying to.

Supported Areas

Area Description
Expected Question Generation Customized interview question lists by role, company, and experience level
Mock Interview Question → Answer → Feedback → Improved Answer Loop
Preparation by Type AI interview, competency interview (BEI), PT interview, discussion interview, executive interview
Answer Coaching STAR-based answer structuring, time allocation, nonverbal communication

Reference Guide: references/common-questions.md, references/interview-types.md

Real Interview Patterns (Korean Hiring Market)

The following are 7 patterns you can use when checking and practicing your answers. For actual questions and evaluation criteria, the guidance of the company you are applying to takes precedence.

1. Framework for Hitting the Intent of the Question

If you grasp "why they are asking this," the direction of your answer becomes clear.

Surface Question Actual Intent
"Describe yourself in one sentence" Ability to objectify yourself and convey a core message
"Why are you changing jobs?" Responsibility, fit with the next company, blind spots
"Tell me about a difficult experience" Resilience, problem-solving ability, self-awareness
"What are your weaknesses?" Self-awareness and willingness to improve (not the weakness itself)
"Where do you see yourself in 10 years?" Career direction and this company's place in it

Before answering, analyze the intent for 30 seconds → answer the real question.

2. Executive Interview: 8 Things You Must Prove

Items evaluated in the executive interview after passing the practical interview:

3. 5 Moments Interviewers Begin to Doubt You (anti-pattern)

  • Abstract answers ("I did my best," "I worked hard")
  • Confusing the company name or inaccurate information
  • Speaking ill of a previous company or colleagues
  • Avoiding the question or giving an irrelevant answer
  • No control over answer length (monologue of 3 minutes or more)

4. PMPO 4-Part Structure (Answer Know-How)

P (Process) —
O (Outcome) —

Shorter and more impressive than STAR. Recommended for executive interviews.

5. Mock Interview 4-Step Loop (Enhanced Version)

After repeated practice, compare again whether your answers are specific, factual, and within time.

6. Differences Between Public-Sector and Private-Sector Interviews

Item Public enterprise Private enterprise
Evaluation criteria Check the posting's evaluation criteria, such as personality and job competency Check the posting's evaluation criteria, such as job and collaboration competency
Answer tone Formal and cautious Confident and impactful
Key questions "Why a public enterprise?", "Public interest value" "Why this company?", "Business impact"
Attire Check the attire specified in the posting or guidelines Check the attire specified in the posting or guidelines

7. Video interview guide

  • Script notes are OK (but naturally)
  • Look at the camera (the lens, not the screen)
  • Front lighting, no backlighting
  • Tidy or solid-color background
  • Test microphone and camera 1 minute before

Preparation strategies by interview type

AI interview (AI competency test)

Whether an AI competency test is introduced and how it is evaluated differ by company and hiring stage. First check the job posting and test guidelines.

Stage Content Preparation points
Self-introduction 1-minute video recording Look at the camera, bright expression, 3 key lines
Basic questions Motivation for applying, strengths/weaknesses Answer in 30 seconds, conclusion first
Tendency assessment Situational judgment options Maintain consistency, avoid extremes
Situational response Conflict/failure experience STAR method + emotional expression
Strategy game Cognitive/judgment test Learn patterns through practice games
In-depth conversation AI follow-up questions Prepare specific figures and examples

Key: Check each test's guidelines to see whether video or audio evaluation is included. Regardless of the format, answer clearly based on actual experience.

Competency interview (BEI: Behavioral Event Interview)

This is a structured interview that predicts future performance from past behavior.

  • Question patterns: "Tell me about a time you ~", "How did you solve it?"
  • Answer formula: STAR (Situation-Task-Action-Result) + lessons learned
  • Evaluation criteria: Specificity, clarity of your role, quantification of results

PT interview

Present for 10-15 minutes on a given topic (30-60 minutes of preparation), followed by Q&A.

Item Strategy
Structure Problem definition → cause analysis → solution → expected effect
Slides 5-7 slides, use data/charts, minimize text
Time allocation 50% structure design, 30% material creation, 20% rehearsal of preparation time
Q&A preparation "Why that approach?", "What are the risks?", "What are the alternatives?" expected

Discussion interview

Conduct a pro/con or free discussion in a group of 4-6 people.

  • Role selection: Choose among moderator (leadership), timekeeper (responsibility), presenter (expression skills)
  • Key point: Logical argument + listening + constructive counterargument. Aggressive rebuttal is a deduction factor

Executive interview

As the final gateway, it evaluates personality, organizational fit, and vision.

  • Frequently asked questions: "Why this company?", "Goals in 5 years", "Our company's challenges"
  • Key point: Connection between the company's vision and personal goals, sincere attitude

Team collaboration style interview

Prepare for a screening that asks about the working style and collaboration experience of the team you will work with. For actual questions and evaluation criteria, the hiring company's guidance takes precedence.

Evaluation criteria Frequently asked interviewer questions This skill's answer guide
Work style "Do you work proactively, or do you work under direction?" 2 examples by job group (one example of experience adapting to the opposite style)
Communication "What if a conflict arises in remote collaboration?" Preference for your own channel + respect for the other person's channel + actual example
Values "What if the team's decision differs from your opinion?" Express opinion first → commit after the decision → review stage
Collaboration attitude "What if a new member joins the team?" Your strength among onboarding documents, 1:1 mentoring, and pair collaboration
Conflict response "A case where you clashed with a colleague?" Separate facts/opinions + 1:1 conversation + timing for escalation to the team leader

Anti-patterns in team-fit answers: self-evaluative clichés such as "I get along well anywhere," "I am a person who harmonizes with the team." Always specific examples + motivation for your decision + resultsanswer with.

Mock interview loop

Feedback criteria:

  • Structure (30%): Compliance with the STAR method, logical flow
  • Content (50%): Specificity, job relevance, differentiation points
  • Delivery (20%): Whether it is front-loaded, appropriate length (1-2 minutes)

Standalone workflow

Reference guide (references/) cannot be used, proceed to the next step.

Step 1: Identify interview context

  • Interview type: AI interview/competency/PT/discussion/executive
  • Company information: company name, role, interview round
  • User background: major, work experience, key experiences

Step 2: Generate tailored questions

  • Job competency questions (60%): technical knowledge, hands-on experience
  • Organizational fit questions (30%): collaboration, conflict resolution, values
  • Growth motivation questions (10%): learning plan, career vision

Step 3: Mock interview or answer coaching

  • Mock interview: repeat the question-answer-feedback loop
  • Answer coaching: restructure the user's answer into STAR format

Step 4: Comprehensive feedback

  • Summary of strengths/weaknesses
  • Present improvement priorities
  • List of recommended questions for additional practice

Execution rules

  1. Receive user request → identify interview type and company information
  2. references/{id}.md Load if present → execute according to the guide
  3. For interviews based on complex company analysis, check job postings, official company materials, and applicant experiences separately, and cross-check the basis of questions and answers step by step. If a separate reasoning tool is currently available in the app, it can be used, but do not rely on tool names or special keywords for execution.
  4. During the mock interview, proceed one question at a time in sequence, waiting for the user's answer

Troubleshooting

  • Lack of interview information by company: If you provide the company name, questions will be generated based on publicly available interview reviews and past question patterns. Referring to Jobplanet and Blind reviews is more accurate.
  • When the answer is too short or too long: For practical interviews, 1-2 minutes (300-500 characters) is appropriate, and for AI interviews, 30 seconds-1 minute is appropriate. Use a timer.
  • Managing nervousness: Set a time limit similar to the real thing, answer one question, take a short break, and then answer the same question again. Compare the length and content of the answers, and if recording audio or video is possible, also check your speaking pace and delivery.
  • Preparing for English interviews: If you need it for a foreign company or an English interview, you can switch to English answer mode.
