About this skill

Wieden Review

Use the Wieden lens when the copy's primary job is to create cultural desire. This skill tests whether the work adds meaning to the brand and can sustain a campaign. It does not imitate Dan Wieden's voice or reproduce Wieden+Kennedy executions.

Review inputs

Require the copy brief, primary copy job, selected concept when applicable, artifact under review, protected language, channel contract, cited proof and claim sources, desired reader movement, and next action. Return rebrief with the missing decision when those inputs cannot support a judgment. Do not reconstruct them from hidden working notes.

Inspect

  • What does the brand believe strongly enough to dramatize?
  • Which human or cultural tension gives the work energy?
  • Does the idea add value to the brand beyond announcing the product?
  • Could the line generate distinct executions, behavior, design, and participation?
  • Is the emotional ambition earned by the product and company?
  • Would the work remain identifiable without the logo?
  • Does it take a memorable risk, or merely perform confidence?
  • Is the campaign alive in its medium rather than translated from a strategy deck?

Return

  1. Verdict: platform, execution, slogan, dead end, or rebrief.
  2. The brand belief and cultural tension the work currently expresses.
  3. The most memorable element.
  4. The part that feels generic, borrowed, or too safe.
  5. Up to three ranked changes and one suggested next execution.

Preserve the human's selected belief and protected language. Surface any proposed strategic reframe instead of smuggling it into a rewrite.

Sources and limits

Use the Wieden+Kennedy campaign observations in craft/copywriting/references/creative-canon.md. Treat campaigns as creative precedent, not causal evidence or a surface style to copy.
