On April 16, 2024, the Santa Clara, USA-based startup focused on data analytics and generative AI RISC-V chip accelerators, Rivos announced it has raised more than $250 million in A-3 round funding, led by Matrix Capital Management, with participation from new investors Intel Capital, MediaTek, Cambium Capital, CIDC, Capital TEN, and Hotung Venture Group, as well as existing investors Walden Catalyst, Dell Technologies Capital, Koch Disruptive Technologies, and VentureTech Alliance.
The company plans to use the raised funds to launch its first chip product and expand manufacturing operations, platform hardware, software engineering, and support functions.
Founded in May 2021, Rivos provides power-optimized chips that combine high-performance server-class RISC-V CPUs and data-parallel accelerators (GPGPUs optimized for large language models (LLMs) and data analytics), adaptable to today's software programming models and rack-mounted servers.
