QuickDesk - Open-source AI-native remote desktop, the first with a built-in MCP Server

Author: AI小集 · Original source: AI工具集

What is QuickDesk

QuickDesk is the world's first open-source AI-native remote desktop with a built-in MCP Server, built on Google Chromium Remoting. The tool lets Claude、Cursor and other AI Agents directly take over any remote computer, completing automated operations such as screenshots, clicks, input, OCR recognition, and Shell execution. QuickDesk supports WebRTC P2P direct connections, multi-codec adaptation, privacy screen, and virtual displays, providing a complete private deployment solution with a signaling server + TURN relay + Web management backend.

QuickDesk

QuickDesk's main features

  • AI-native MCP integration: Built-in MCP Server; AI Agents such as Claude and Cursor can directly take over a remote computer through the standard protocol, ready to use out of the box with zero plugins.
  • 40+ automation toolset: Provides complete remote control capabilities such as screenshots, mouse click/drag, keyboard input, OCR recognition, UI element detection, file operations, and Shell execution.
  • High-performance remote protocol: Based on Google Chromium Remoting (WebRTC), supports automatic switching between P2P direct connections and TURN relay, with extremely low latency.
  • Multi-codec adaptation: Supports multiple video codecs including H.264, VP8, VP9, and AV1, flexibly switching according to network and hardware conditions.
  • Privacy screen protection: During remote connections, the controlled end's monitor can be blacked out and local keyboard and mouse input blocked, protecting operations privacy.
  • Virtual display support: Creates virtual screens through the IDD driver, enabling remote access to headless servers and multi-screen expansion.
  • Simultaneous multi-device management: Supports connecting to and orchestrating multiple remote devices simultaneously in multiple tabs, allowing AI to perform batch automated operations and maintenance.
  • Visualized AI operations: All AI operations are displayed in real time in the GUI, allowing users to intervene manually at any time, and also supporting headless background operation.
  • Complete private deployment: You can self-host a Go signaling server, coturn relay, PostgreSQL/Redis database, and Web management backend, with complete data autonomy.
  • Enterprise-grade management backend: Provides features such as device management, user permissions, two-step verification, audit logs, IP whitelisting, and Webhook notifications.
  • Silent batch installation: The Windows end supports Inno Setup silent installation, suitable for batch deployment of unattended nodes in enterprise environments.
  • Cross-platform client: Supports Windows and macOS, uses Qt6+QML to implement a Fluent Design style UI, and supports switching between Chinese and English.

How to use QuickDesk

  • Download and install: Download the installation package for the corresponding platform from GitHub Releases, and complete installation on the controlling end and the controlled end separately.
  • Get the connection code: After the controlled end starts, it automatically generates a 9-digit device ID and a temporary access code; click to copy and share.
  • Initiate a remote connection: On the controlling end, enter the controlled end's device ID and access code, then click Connect to establish a low-latency remote session.
  • Enable the AI service: Turn on the MCP service switch in settings (default port 9800), and copy the configuration template with one click.
  • Connect an AI client: Paste the configuration into MCP-compatible AI tools such as Cursor, Claude Desktop, or VS Code.
  • AI Automatic Control: Once the AI Agent is connected, it can remotely take screenshots, click, type, and execute Shell commands, enabling 24/7 automated operations.
  • Multi-Device Orchestration: Connect to multiple remote hosts simultaneously through multiple tabs, with the AI uniformly scheduling and executing batch tasks.
  • Private Deployment (Optional): Use Docker to self-host the signaling server, TURN relay, and Web admin console with one click, giving you full data autonomy.

QuickDesk's Core Advantages

  • AI-Native Pioneer: The world's first remote desktop with a built-in MCP Server, allowing AI Agents to directly take over any remote computer without plugins.
  • Open Source and Commercially Usable: Fully open source and free under the MIT license, with no feature limits and no connection limits, so enterprises can use it commercially with confidence.
  • Extreme Performance: A pure C++ full stack built on Google Chromium Remoting, with shared-memory zero-copy transmission and CPU and memory usage far lower than similar products.
  • Complete Privatization: Supports self-hosted signaling servers, TURN relays, and Web admin consoles, keeping data within the intranet for secure and controllable autonomy.
  • AI Visualization and Intervention: All AI operations are displayed in the interface in real time, allowing users to intervene manually at any time, and also supporting silent background operation without an interface.
  • Multi-Device Orchestration: One AI can connect to and schedule multiple remote hosts simultaneously, enabling batch automated operations and cross-device workflows.
  • Enterprise-Grade Backend: Comes with a Web management panel that supports device/user management, audit logs, two-step verification, IP whitelisting, and Webhook notifications.
