PicoClaw - Sipeed's ultra-lightweight AI Agent assistant

Author: AI小集 · Original source: AI工具集

What is PicoClaw

PicoClaw is an ultra-lightweight AI Agent assistant launched by Sipeed, written in Go and designed for low-cost hardware. The tool does not run large models locally; instead, it acts as a lightweight client that calls cloud models via API (such as Claude, GPT, Zhipu GLM, etc.), while executing Agent capabilities such as file operations, web search, and task planning locally. PicoClaw supports integration with multiple platforms such as Telegram and Discord, turning cheap hardware into a 24/7 online personal AI assistant.

PicoClaw's main features

  • Conversational interaction: Supports two modes: single command-line questions and interactive continuous conversation.
  • Tool calling: Capable of executing code, operating files, and performing task planning and other local Agent capabilities.
  • Web search: Integrates the Brave Search API for real-time online information lookup, providing 2,000 free queries per month.
  • Speech-to-text: Works with Groq's Whisper service to recognize voice messages sent on platforms such as Telegram.
  • Multi-model support: Supports free switching between multiple cloud model backends such as OpenRouter, Zhipu AI, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, and Groq.
  • Chat platform integration: Can integrate with chat platforms such as Telegram, Discord, QQ, and DingTalk for remote interaction.
  • Memory system: Has a local workspace for managing conversation history, long-term memory, scheduled tasks, and custom skills.
  • File-based configuration: Sets behavior rules, identity, and personality separately through files such as AGENTS.md, IDENTITY.md, and SOUL.md.

How to use PicoClaw

  • Install the program: Download the binary for the corresponding platform from GitHub Releases, or clone the source code via git and run the make deps and make build commands to compile and install.
  • Initial configuration: Run the picoclaw onboard command to complete initialization, and edit the ~/.picoclaw/config.json file to fill in the LLM's API Key and model parameters.
  • Single question: On the command line, run picoclaw agent -m followed by specific instructions to have the AI assistant complete a single task.
  • Continuous conversation: Run picoclaw agent to enter interactive mode and have multiple rounds of continuous conversation with the AI assistant.

PicoClaw's application scenarios

  • Home smart assistant: Deployed on the LicheeRV-Nano development board, it serves as a 24/7 online home AI assistant, interacting remotely via Telegram.
  • Server automation and operations: Running on the NanoKVM remote KVM device, it lets the AI automatically perform operations tasks such as server inspections and troubleshooting.
  • Smart security monitoring: Works with the MaixCAM camera to achieve image detection and automatic notifications, such as immediately pushing a message when a person is detected entering the frame.
  • Edge computing terminal: The tool can be deployed on cheap devices such as Raspberry Pi, old phones flashed with Linux, and routers to run AI Agents.
  • Portable remote assistant: By integrating with chat platforms such as Telegram and Discord, users can send commands to the device from their phone anytime and anywhere to complete tasks such as information lookup, coding, and task planning.
