What is OOTDiffusion
OOTDiffusion is an open-source AI virtual fitting tool that intelligently adapts to different genders and body types, automatically adjusts clothing size and shape, and generates naturally fitting try-on results. OOTDiffusion supports half-body and full-body try-on modes. Users upload their own model and clothing images to achieve a highly customized try-on experience. The tool has a simple workflow and is easy to get started with, making it suitable for clothing e-commerce, fashion industry professionals, and AI try-on technology enthusiasts.
Main features of OOTDiffusion
- Intelligent adaptation: Automatically adjusts the size and shape of clothing according to the model's gender and body type to generate a fitting try-on effect.
- Multiple try-on modes: Supports half-body and full-body try-on. Users can choose to focus on upper-body or lower-body matching effects according to their needs, or preview a complete look.
- Customized experience: Users upload model images and clothing images, and specify upper-body, lower-body, or full-body outfit changes according to personal preferences.
- Fast generation: Simple to operate. After uploading images, try-on results can be generated quickly. The user experience is friendly and suitable for non-technical users.
Technical principles of OOTDiffusion
- Pretrained latent diffusion models: Based on pretrained latent diffusion models to generate high-quality clothing images.
- Outfitting UNet: Designs an outfitting UNet to learn detailed features of clothing in latent space, enabling single-step learning of clothing features.
- Outfitting Fusion: Proposes an outfitting fusion process that precisely aligns clothing features with the target human body in the self-attention layers of the denoising UNet, without the need for a separate deformation process.
- Outfitting Dropout: Introduces outfitting dropout during training, randomly discarding some clothing latent representations to achieve classifier-free guidance and enhance the controllability of clothing features.
- Cross-attention mechanism: Uses CLIP textual-inversion and an image encoder to combine clothing image features with text descriptions as auxiliary conditional inputs, integrating them into the generation process based on a cross-attention mechanism.

Application scenarios of OOTDiffusion
- E-commerce platforms: Online retailers can let users see how clothes look on themselves before purchasing, helping consumers make more informed purchasing decisions, reducing return rates, and increasing conversion rates.
- Fashion design and styling: Designers can test different clothing styles and combinations during the design stage, quickly preview design effects, and save the time and cost of producing physical samples
- Personalized customization services: Clothing customization companies can provide customers with personalized try-on experiences, adjusting clothing size and design according to customers' body types and preferences, and providing customization services that better match individual characteristics.
- Games and virtual reality: In role-playing games or virtual reality applications, create and try on virtual clothing to enhance the immersive and personalized experience of the game.
- Advertising and marketing: Clothing brands can create interactive advertisements that let consumers try on the latest clothing collections online, improving brand appeal and user engagement, and increasing sales.
