What is News Agents
News Agents is a terminal-based news aggregation and summarization system. It uses Amazon Q CLI as the Agent framework, employs Model Context Protocol (MCP) to parse RSS news feeds, and leverages tmux to achieve terminal splitting and multi-task monitoring. The system fetches articles from multiple news sources (such as Hacker News, TechCrunch, The Wall Street Journal, etc.), distributes them to multiple sub-Agents for parallel processing, and ultimately generates concise and readable summaries, which are aggregated intomain-summary.mdfile. The entire process is completed in the terminal, demonstrating the powerful capabilities of multi-Agent collaboration and providing users with an efficient and personalized news reading experience.
Main Features of News Agents
- News Aggregation: Fetches RSS news feeds from multiple well-known news sources (such as Hacker News, TechCrunch, The Wall Street Journal, etc.).
- Multi-Agent Collaboration: Based on a main Agent and multiple sub-Agents processing news sources in parallel, improving efficiency.
- News Summary Generation: Each sub-Agent parses news content to generate concise summaries.
- Terminal Visualization: Real-time monitoring of each agent's processing progress.
- Aggregated Output: Aggregates the summaries generated by all sub-Agents into a main summary file main-summary.md, making it convenient for users to quickly browse.
Technical Principles of News Agents
- Amazon Q CLI: As the Agent framework, manages and schedules the main Agent and sub-Agents. Provides tools and interfaces to support multi-Agent collaboration and task allocation.
- Model Context Protocol (MCP): Parses RSS news feeds, extracts news titles, links, and content. Provides standardized interfaces to facilitate the processing of different news sources.
- tmux: Splits terminal windows, displaying the running status of the main Agent and sub-Agents in different panes. Enables real-time monitoring and visualization of multi-task parallel processing.
- Parallel Processing: Splits the news source list into multiple parts, with each sub-Agent processing one part, improving processing efficiency. Based on tmux's multi-pane functionality, ensures that each Agent's running status is clear at a glance.
