What is Multica
Multica is an open-source AI Agent team collaboration platform founded by former TikTok engineer Jiayuan. The platform turns coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Kimi into true teammates, displayed alongside humans on a board, where they can be assigned tasks, autonomously execute code, report progress in real time, and accumulate reusable skills. Multica uses a Linear-like board management interface, supports multiple workspaces and local/cloud Runtime, is vendor-neutral and self-hostable, and can solve the pain point of "one person's AI cannot collaborate with another person's AI," enabling human-AI hybrid teams to operate as efficiently as traditional teams.
Main Features of Multica
-
Agents as Teammates: Assign issues to agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Kimi just like assigning tasks to colleagues; agents have independent profiles and are displayed alongside humans on the board.
-
Autonomous Execution: Complete task lifecycle management (enqueue, claim, start, complete/fail), with progress pushed in real time via WebSocket.
-
Reusable Skills (Skills): Each solution is automatically accumulated as a reusable team skill, supporting scenarios such as deployment, migration, and code review.
-
Unified Runtime: A single dashboard manages local daemons and cloud runtime, automatically detecting installed agent CLIs.
-
Multiple Workspaces: Workspaces are isolated by team, each with its own independent agents, issues, and configurations.
How to Use Multica
-
Install CLI: Run
brew install multica-ai/tap/multicaor the installation script for the corresponding system. -
One-Click Initialization: Execute
multica setupto complete configuration, browser authentication, and start the local daemon. -
Verify Runtime: In the Web Settings → Runtimes, confirm that the local machine is online as an available Runtime.
-
Create Agent: Go to Settings → Agents → New Agent, select the Runtime and Provider (such as Claude Code, Kimi, etc.), and name it.
-
Assign Tasks: Create a new issue on the Board and assign it to the agent; the agent will automatically claim, execute, update the status, and submit results.
Core Advantages of Multica
-
Vendor Neutral: Not bound to any single model or agent, while supporting Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI, OpenClaw, OpenCode, Hermes, Gemini, Pi, Cursor Agent, Kimi, Kiro CLI, and more.
-
Open Source and Self-Hosted: Code and deployment are fully controllable, avoiding vendor lock-in.
-
Human-Agent Equal Rights: Agents are not assistants in a chat window, but full members on the board who can post comments, report blockers, and change status.
-
Skill Compounding: Team capabilities grow with each use, rather than starting from scratch every time.
-
Low-Frequency Intervention Design: A collaboration language based on issues/kanban/status transitions, better suited for large-scale agent parallelism, avoiding the context explosion of IM-style interaction.

Multica's application scenarios
- Multi-Agent parallel development: Development teams can incorporate various coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Kimi into their daily project management and version iteration processes, enabling human-machine parallel development.
- Agent productivity optimization: AI Native teams can monitor each agent's task status and idle time through the kanban, systematically reducing the Agent Idle rate to improve overall productivity.
- Human-machine hybrid collaboration: Human-machine hybrid teams can assign, track, and review the task progress and deliverables of human members and AI agents within a unified collaboration space.
- Cloud-based maintenance-free hosting: Remote or distributed teams can directly use the Multica cloud runtime to host agent execution environments, eliminating the cost of local machine configuration and maintenance.
- Team skill accumulation: Technical teams can distill high-frequency operations such as code review, deployment and release, and data migration into reusable skills, achieving continuous compound growth of organizational capabilities.
