On April 2, 2024, the data and AI skills training platform headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA, Modal announced it had raised $25 million in Series A funding, with investors in this round including Left Lane Capital, Ensemble VC, Signalfire, and Learn Capital.
The company plans to use the raised funds to enhance its platform, expand its go-to-market capabilities, and continue recruiting top talent.
Modal was co-founded in 2021 by former Udemy president and CEO Darren Shimkus and Dennis Yang, and helps enterprises improve their employees' data and generative AI skills through personalized technology and AI skills training. Modal's learning platform uses 1-on-1 expert coaching and work simulation projects to drive education for data workers.
