What is Meeseeks
Meeseeks is an open-source large model benchmark from Meituan's M17 team, used to evaluate models' instruction-following capabilities. Through a three-level evaluation framework, Meeseeks comprehensively measures from macro to micro whether a model can strictly generate responses according to user instructions, without evaluating the factual correctness of the response content. Meeseeks introduces a multi-turn correction mode, allowing the model to make corrections after receiving feedback, evaluating its self-correction ability. Meeseeks uses objective evaluation criteria, abandoning vague instructions, ensuring consistency and accuracy of results. Meeseeks' data design is more challenging, effectively widening the gap between different models and providing optimization directions for model developers.
Main Features of Meeseeks
- Instruction-Following Capability Evaluation:
- Level 1 Capability: Evaluates whether the model correctly understands the user's core task intent, whether the overall structure of the response satisfies the instructions, and whether each independent unit in the response conforms to the instruction details.
- Level 2 Capability: Focuses on the model's execution of various specific constraints, such as content constraints (topic, genre, language, word count, etc.) and format constraints (template compliance, number of units, etc.).
- Level 3 Capability: Evaluates the model's adherence to fine-grained rules, such as rhyming, keyword avoidance, prohibition of repetition, symbol usage, etc.
- Multi-Turn Correction Mode: If the model's first-round response fails to fully satisfy all instructions, the evaluation framework automatically generates clear feedback, pointing out which specific instruction item was not satisfied, and requires the model to revise its answer based on the feedback.
- Objective Evaluation Criteria: Abandons vague instructions; all evaluation items are objectively determinable criteria, ensuring consistency and accuracy of evaluation results.
- High-Difficulty Data Design: Test cases are designed to be more challenging, effectively widening the gap between different models and providing clear optimization directions for model developers.
Technical Principles of Meeseeks
- Three-Level Evaluation Framework:
- Level 1 Capability: Parses user instructions through natural language processing (NLP) technology, extracting core task intent and structural requirements. For example, using intent recognition algorithms to determine whether the model understands the task of "generating nicknames."
- Level 2 Capability: Conducts content and format constraint checks on the model-generated response. For example, using text analysis algorithms to check whether the generated review meets the word count limit, or whether it adopts the specified genre.
- Level 3 Capability: Conducts fine-grained rule checks on the model-generated response. For example, using regular expressions to check whether the generated review contains prohibited words, or whether it conforms to specific writing techniques.
