On April 15, 2024, the London, UK-based AI legal tech startup Lawhive announced it has raised £9.5 million in seed funding, led by GV, the venture capital arm of Google's parent company Alphabet, with participation from Episode 1 Ventures.
The company plans to use the raised funds to expand its team and hire for multiple positions, including AI engineers and software developers.
Lawhive is a platform that helps lawyers collaborate with their own clients or match with consumers and small businesses through its marketplace. It currently works with more than 100 solicitors and lawyers across the UK. The platform offers an AI lawyer, Lawrence, which can automate routine repetitive administrative tasks, including KYC/AML, client onboarding, and document collection.
