On March 28, 2024, the New York-based AI startup and research lab Hume AI, dedicated to building AI optimized for human well-being, raised $50 million in Series B funding. The round was led by EQT Ventures, with participation from Union Square Ventures, Nat Friedman & Daniel Gross, Metaplanet, Northwell Holdings, Comcast Ventures, and LG Technology Ventures.
The company plans to use the raised funds to continue developing a new type of emotionally intelligent voice interface that can be built into any application.
Hume AI was founded in 2021 by Dr. Alan Cowen, a former Google researcher and scientist, and is known for pioneering the theory of semantic space. The company has created an advanced AI API toolkit for measuring human emotional expression, which has been used in everything from robotics to customer service, healthcare, wellness and health, user research, and more.
