What is GaussianAnything
GaussianAnything is a 3D generationframework launched by NTU S-Lab in collaboration with Shanghai AI Lab and other institutions. GaussianAnything is based on an interactive point cloud structured latent space and cascaded flow matching models, enabling high-quality, scalable 3D content generation. GaussianAnything supports multimodal conditional inputs, including point clouds, text, and single/multi-view images, and can generate 3D assets with geometry-texture disentanglement, facilitating subsequent editing. GaussianAnything outperforms existing methods in both text- and image-guided 3D generation tasks, demonstrating better 3D consistency and generation results.
GaussianAnything's Main Features
- Multimodal Conditional Input: Supports multiple input forms, including point clouds, text descriptions, and single/multi-view images.
- High-Quality 3D Generation: Generates 3D models with rich details and high-quality surfaces, supporting outputs at different resolutions and levels of detail.
- Efficient 3D Editing Capabilities: Supports flexible editing of generated 3D models, such as shape adjustment and texture replacement.
- Supports Multiple Output Formats: Generated 3D models can be exported as point clouds, Surfel Gaussians, or triangle meshes, meeting the needs of different application scenarios.
GaussianAnything's Technical Principles
- 3D VAE Encoder: Uses multi-view RGB-D (depth) and normal rendered images as input, and based on a 3D-Attention Transformer encoder compresses 3D objects into a point cloud structured latent space, preserving rich 3D geometric and texture information, reducing the dimensionality of the latent space, and improving training efficiency.
- Point Cloud Structured Latent Space: Based on Cross Attention, features are projected onto a sparse 3D point cloud to form point cloud structured latent variables, preserving the geometric information of 3D objects and supporting efficient 3D diffusion model training.
- Cascaded Diffusion Model:
- First Stage: Generates a sparse point cloud to determine the geometric layout of the 3D object.
- Second Stage: Generates texture details based on point cloud conditions, achieving disentanglement of geometry and texture.
- High-Quality Decoder: Uses a 3D Transformer and upsampling modules to progressively upsample point cloud latent variables into high-resolution Surfel Gaussians, ultimately decoding them into dense 3D models.
