What is FrogBoss
FrogBoss is a series of programming models launched by Microsoft Research. The model is trained using an innovative complex vulnerability generation method (BugPilot), which unintentionally introduces vulnerabilities by having a language model agent (LLM) add new features to a codebase, generating more challenging and diverse training data. The FrogBoss 32B parameter model achieves 54.6% pass@1 accuracy on the SWE-Bench-Verified benchmark, becoming the latest state of the art in this field. The model delivers outstanding performance, demonstrating higher data efficiency and better adaptability to real-world software development scenarios.
FrogBoss's Main Features
-
Efficient Vulnerability Repair: The model can quickly identify and fix complex vulnerabilities in code, improving software quality and stability.
-
Code Optimization and Improvement: By analyzing existing code, it provides optimization suggestions to improve code efficiency and maintainability.
-
Automated Testing Support: The model can generate test cases to verify whether code changes introduce new problems, ensuring software functionality works properly.
-
Development Efficiency Improvement: By automating tedious tasks, it reduces repetitive work for developers and accelerates the software development cycle.
FrogBoss's Technical Principles
- Complex Vulnerability Generation (BugPilot):
- FeatAdd Method: By having a language model agent (LLM) add new features to a codebase, it unintentionally introduces vulnerabilities. This method simulates vulnerabilities arising from feature expansion in real-world software development, and the generated vulnerabilities are more diverse and complex.
- BugInstruct Method: As a comparison, the agent is asked to directly introduce vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities generated in this way are relatively simple and differ greatly from real-world scenarios.
- High-Quality Data Training: Using high-quality vulnerability data generated by the FeatAdd method, combined with other datasets (such as R2E-Gym and SWE-Smith), supervised fine-tuning (SFT) and reinforcement learning (RL) training are performed. This training approach enables FrogBoss to perform excellently when solving complex software engineering tasks while also improving data utilization efficiency.
