Investors in this round include several billionaires (or their family offices), some well-known venture capital firms, and several strategic backers, such as Eric Schmidt, Xavier Niel, Yuri Milner, Bernard Arnault (through Aglaé Ventures) and Motier Ventures (the family office of the owners of the Lafayette Group), as well as venture capital firms Accel, Bpifrance's Large Venture fund, Creandum Partners, Eurazeo, FirstMark Capital and Visionaries Club, and corporate investors such as Amazon and Samsung, UiPath, among others.
The company plans to use the raised funds to pay for computing and power costs, as well as to drive the company's rapid development.
H, formerly known as Holistic AI, is an artificial intelligence startup founded a few months ago. The company's founding team includes Charles Kantor, who was previously a researcher at Stanford University, and four co-founders who previously worked at DeepMind: Tuyls, who was formerly a research director focusing on game theory and multi-agent research; Laurent Sifre, who was formerly a principal scientist and contributed to DeepMind's flagship projects such as AlphaGo, AlphaFold and AlphaStar; Daan Wierstra, a founding member of DeepMind, who will become H's chief scientist; and Julien Perolat, who also has extensive experience in game theory and multi-agent research at DeepMind. H currently has a team of 25 engineers and scientists and plans to move quickly. The company says it wants to achieve full artificial general intelligence (AGI).
