What is DimensionX
DimensionX is a framework jointly launched by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, and ShengShu Technology. It can generate highly realistic 3D and 4D scenes from a single image, and is based on video diffusion technology to achieve precise control over spatial and temporal dimensions. The framework is based on ST-Director technology to decouple spatial and temporal factors, support independent or combined control, and generate complex scenes with dynamic changes. DimensionX includes a trajectory-aware mechanism and an identity-preserving denoising strategy to enhance the consistency and realism of scenes.
Main features of DimensionX
- 3D scene generation: Generate new viewpoint renderings from a single image and construct 3D scenes.
- 4D scene generation: Generate dynamic scenes containing temporal and spatial changes from a single image.
- Video diffusion control: Based on ST-Director technology, achieve decoupling and precise control of spatial and temporal factors during the video diffusion process.
- Trajectory-aware mechanism: Designed for 3D generation, handling complex real-world scenes and camera motion.
- Identity-preserving denoising strategy: Designed for 4D generation, enhancing scene consistency, especially between dynamic objects and the background.
Technical principles of DimensionX
- ST-Director (Spatial and Temporal Director):
- Dimension-aware LoRAs: Learn low-rank adaptations (LoRAs) obtained from dimension-varying data to achieve decoupling of spatial and temporal factors in video diffusion.
- S-Director (Spatial Director): Responsible for generating video frames related to spatial changes and controlling camera viewpoint and position.
- T-Director (Temporal Director): Responsible for generating video frames related to temporal changes and controlling the dynamics of objects in the scene.
- Dimension-aware decomposition: Define spatial and temporal equivalence relations, and create the S-Quotient Space and T-Quotient Space to capture spatial trajectories and temporal motion trajectories in videos, respectively.
- Training-free dimension-aware composition: Based on the denoising mechanism in the video diffusion process, develop a training-free method to achieve mixed-dimension control, used to switch between S-Director and T-Director at different stages of the denoising process to generate videos containing spatial and temporal changes.
- 3D scene generation:
- Trajectory-aware mechanism: Train multiple S-Directors according to different camera motion trajectories to cover a wide range of camera motion patterns.
- Video interpolation model: Generate high-quality interpolated videos and smoothly and consistently transition between sparse views.
- 4D scene generation:
- Reference video latent sharing: Enhance consistency among all spatially varying videos by selecting a reference frame and sharing its latent code.
- Appearance refinement: Refine the dynamic video for each viewpoint to enhance stability and consistency among multi-view videos.
