The round was co-led by Emerson Collective and Cherryrock Capital, with participation from existing investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Greycroft.
Coactive AI was founded in 2023 by Cody Coleman and William Gaviria Rojas. Cody Coleman is the company's co-founder and CEO. He received a bachelor's and master's degree in computer science from MIT and a doctorate from Stanford University, where he studied under Databricks co-founder Matei Zaharia. William Gaviria Rojas holds a doctorate in computer science from Northwestern University and is a former data scientist at eBay. Coactive AI's platform uses artificial intelligence technology to help enterprises understand and analyze large amounts of visual content, including images and video, to improve efficiency and reduce reliance on manual review or data labeling services. The company uses multimodal AI to extract context directly from pixels and audio in content in a highly scalable and secure way, rather than performing cumbersome and expensive tagging/annotation, thereby empowering data, marketing, and product teams.
