On May 14, 2024, the Seattle-based startup specializing in AI legal document organization and data extractionAerialannounced it has raised $2 million in pre-seed funding. Investors in this round include Seattle-area venture capital firm Fuse, with participation from Pack Ventures. Previous investors include Madrona Venture Group's Pioneer Fund.
The company plans to use the raised funds to accelerate the development of its artificial intelligence solutions.
Aerial was founded in 2021 by Doug Logan and Michael Li. Doug Logan is the company's co-founder and CEO, and he previously worked as a corporate lawyer at the Seattle law firm K&L Gates for five years. The company uses machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and deep learning technology, and claims it can automatically extract, organize, and cross-reference unstructured data stored in messy legal documents without input from the company or its legal team. Currently, Aerial employs six people and has not yet generated revenue, but more than 100 companies have registered and use its product.
